We just arrived in the town after traveling by bus from Nghĩa Lộ. The mountain road up to Trạm Tấu is narrow and winding.

This road is a real challenge for motorbike riders and tourists. We met a group of Vietnamese tourists from Sài Gòn and they were struggling with going up the road.

I made friend with a Thai ethnic minority boy and he invited me to have dinner with his brothers and friends. We had snails, bamboo worms (my first ever taste), bamboo, beef and fried egg. The boys drank a lot of rice wine.

At a Thai ethnic minority house by the Highway No. 32, I saw the locals drying pork over smoke like this. It takes two days until the pork can be eaten.

There is a hot spring in the town. Both Thai ethnic minority men and women have bath in this small pool by the stream.

Wow, what a long holiday you had. Thank you for all the beautiful scenery of this section of Vietnam just before harvesting. I like terraced rice fields the most, reminds me of Bali. Great write up.
