Apart from a couple of hours early on I cant get to sleep at nights. I believe that England are playing Switzerland tonight so at 02:00 I turn on the TV on the off chance it is being covered but find Spain v Macedonia instead. Make a coffee and sit through the first half but not even that helps me to drop off. Finally I get a couple of hours before time for breakfast.
After breakfast we bike into Phon Thong and first stop is on the road out of town to Roi Et where the offices for registering the bike and making us legal again can be found. This year we are sent to a small garage next door where they actually give the bike a rudimentary MOT. Well, they check the serial number against our registration and stick a pipe up the exhaust toi check emmissions ... When we finish we are almost legal again for another year.
Do a little bit of shopping in town then stop to order a TV satellite dish as our old aerial is a nightmare. Not only do we only receive two channels clearly even they disappear at times when the aerial is blown around by the wind. Apparently we are swapping the possibility of 6 not very exciting channels for anything up to 100 probably equally not exciting channels. They promise to deliver and install this afternoon which is a bit of a surprise. If nothing else I will actually be able to watch the football matches from time to time instead of just listening to the Thai commentary and just imagining what is happening most of the time ! Who knows we may even be able to pick up a couple of channels in English although that is probably stretching my expectations a bit - a lot !
We phone Septic Sam on our way back to the village and he promises to call later. In fact he arrives about 10mins after we get back and the bathroom is soon sorted, I hope. The two guys who did the job were definitely in the Laurel & Hardy category and Planet STupid came instantly to mind although I am going to try not to go there this year - no promises ?!
We eat a late lunch then Jai sets to work to make the bathroom respectable again whilst I retire to wait for the TV men.
George pops in to return a case of books I had left with him and as he is leaving the TV men arrive as promised. They were here for a couple of hours in the heat of afternoon and unlike Stan & Ollie this morning appeared to know what they were doing. A nice tidy job and they even cleared up after themselves before they left.
It's nice to have a clear picture on the TV at last and I sit playing with channels for a while to see what I can find. One channel appears to be entirely Spanish League Football even with an English commentary so no doubt that will get a little viewing from me. There are a couple of 24hour news channels, in Thai, but at least I can watch the pictures to see what is happening in the world. Found another channel advertising English football on 27th Sept but cant remember which one it was !!
A lovely shower before bed tonight then Athletico v Levante for an hour before sleep.
