Jai is just getting back into bed with a cup of tea after making the day's rice when the phone rings. It is surprising for the time, 05:15, and for the fact that we have a signal in the bedroom at all. We hear a faint Hello but couldnt communicate and decide it was either Pam or Carol. I walk out to the kitchen to try and get a stronger signal to return the call when the phone rings again. Sister Pam to tell me that her daughter Michelle had just given birth to a son; Charlie Mark. Congratulations to all concerned.
Doze in bed for another hour or so then after about 12 hours it sounds as though the rian has finally stopped.
It is too wet to do much but I decide that cutting the front hedge sounds like a Sunday job.
Jai tells me that the washing machine is not draining so off with the back and clean out the filters and all appears to be well again.
Visit the village internet to watch yesterday's rugby but it is not available yet. Update travel blog for a while.
Early evening the rain starts again.
