The first morning at the hotel we took the cultural tour of the grounds. The hotel was built 10 years ago by a very rich philanthropist who bought the land as paddy fields and then set about creating a small city in the Lanna style. So it has walls,a moat, its own paddy fields, temple etc. It is the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in and I can highly recommend it. The Manager Greg kindly showed us some of the villas, which are dotted all around the grounds and have spectacular views. We would love to stay in a villa next time although the Colonial suites cannot be faulted. The staff are very attentive and so polite- one aspect of Thailand I loveAfter the tour we sat by the pool and had a light lunch brought to us . In the evening we took the hotel shuttle to the night market- a bustling place selling food and souvenirs, some good some bad. Later we ate by the Ping River at The Gallery restaurant. Very nice ambience and good food. An evening in the bar later was fun
