After a few hours of sleep on a bed as hard on the stone floor, it was time for our first day of adventures. We found a great spot to eat breakfast and relax while watching all the craziness on the streets. With food and coffee we were ready for the day! We walked down the street to book a day tour of Phang Nga Bay. After totally butchering the pronunciation of Phang Nga Bay and the tour agent not having a clue what we were talking about, we finally got through to her that we wanted to see James Bond Island. After much hard work she got us into a group that was leaving in 1 hr, so we would have to take a tuk-tuk from our location in Patong to the marina to get on the boat which was an hr ride. After price negotiation, the agent realized the electricity in the area was off for the day so she wouldn't be able to run our card. When the tuk-tuk arrived she talked with him, made a phone call and told use he would take use to another location to pay before we went to marina. So off we
went in our badass tuk-tuk with 2 12 inch subwoofers bumping the 2014 hits station! The tour booking agent warned us he would have to drive very fast to get us there on time and she wasn't kidding! We made it to the marina on time for the tour and off we went on a giant boat with a group of about 20 people. We were the only true Americans on the tour, with another couple that lived in Seattle but were from Europe and Thailand. First stop on the tour was a private beach to swim and hang out. Then we got back on the boat and were served a delicious Thai food lunch. Scott and I decided that my family would never survive a trip like this because they would never eat all the weird food! After a very scenic boat ride we got off the boat and onto sea kayaks that floated us through limestone caves that were barely accessible at low tide! Back on the boat and off to James Bond Island which was featured in the movie The Man with the Golden Gun. After another beautiful boat ride and folding the petals of a lotus
flower to keep us awake, we stopped at another cave. The tour guide put a candle in each of our flowers and we all got off the boat inside the cave. With the candles light our guide told us releasing the flowers with a light candle into the ocean would bring us good luck. Back on the boat we were served an amazing noodle bowl dinner and enjoyed a sunset cruise back to the marina. We were both pretty exhausted after such a long day with not much sleep, but we powered through and walked the city at night. It was such a crazy cultural experience to see all the happenings in Phuket! It is morning here now and we are going to be checking out of our hotel here and catching a ferry to Phi Phi Islands for the next three nights. So many more adventures ahead! Feeling very blessed this morning as I write this and realize how truly amazing it is to have an experience like this!
