Hello Followers and all other readers,
We had a chilled out morning because our ferry to Koh Tao was not until 1300. We decided to just watch a spooks, head out for a little ride on the ped to get breakfast. (Not a nice day, looked like it rained all night so extra care on the roads) I drove 3 of us into town, Vick was panicking as she thought I couldn’t handle it but it was easy and very safe. We had breakfast in a little café in Thong Sala, it was nice and the food was good and cheap.
We left the German girl in the Thong Sala as she needed to sort out postcards and stuff, so we said our fair wells and headed back to the hostel to check-out and hand our bike back. We paid 100 baht each getting to the hostel so we planned for me to drive Vick with her bag to the pier and then for me to drive back, and blag a lift back. This worked out perfectly, the owner of the hostel offered me a lift so I was happy, just needed to hand the
moped back. The thing with the bikes is they don’t make much money renting them out but its all about ripping people off by saying there is damage and they have to pay for it!! We checked and the company we hired from-they were well known and the hostel had never had a problem with them before!! The guy didn’t even look at the bike, just took the money and left!! WOO HOO!!
So once back in Thong Sala we headed to the pier after getting some supplies from 7 eleven. The weather was horrendous!! I really mean it, as a merchant seaman I have been in rough rough weather but on a small ferry its 10 times worse!! I would say 50% of the people were spewing up, however Vick and I were fine; she slept while I chilled out with music (drowning out all the sick noises).
When we arrived the weather in Koh Tao was better but still crazy!! We found our pick-up from hostel straight away and we left. I had been here before, however I stayed in the middle of everything, we however were staying in Hing Wong Bay
which was as remote as you can get and the road getting here was made up of cracked concrete and dirt going up 50 degree slopes (was harrowing).
The hostel (the Hing Wong Bay dive and snorkel resort) is nice, you have to walk up about 100 steps to get there but it is right on the sea and the manager is very friendly and accommodating!!! The guy who picked us up also brought our bags to our room (fair play he brought both bags one on his head and they are not light). Our room is nice and big, with a massive double bed balcony and kitchen, the kitchen is a gas camping stove but it's good for boiling a kettle so Vick can have here coffee!!
First thing we did was to head to the pool, it is an infinity pool but all sea water, its amazing!! As the weather was so bad we got in and got some great pics of the waves coming over us, was really special. (look at the photos yourself)
As it was a right nightmare getting into town we decided instead of costing
us £2 I would go in to get supplies for the room on my own, I got into town after waiting an extra 15 min’s for a girl to dry her hair!! (I was not happy). I had about 20 min’s to do all the shopping I managed it in 10!! I got us the essentials like beer, rum, water, peanut m&m’s and eggs. (I was going to cook breakfast in the morning) So my lift back was 20 min’s late, which was really annoying as I had not enough cash to get back any other way, but it turned up and I headed back.
We unloaded everything and then went up for dinner in the reception area, It was cheap and tasty, Vick had sweet and sour chicken and I had stir fried pork with basil. Both dishes were good.
We headed back to the room and had a few drinks and watched a film then crashed after a long day.
That’s everything people.
Love N&V X
