On the Road
Or on the ferry as the case may be - a nice calm dayDay 58 Bangkok to Koh Samui (Mon 30th Aug)
Well, as mentioned previously, it was a rather early start today. The coach was to depart at 0500, so I made sure to be back at the hotel by 0415, in order to shower and pack before leaving. Actually I made it in just before Helen got up so it worked out well. We made it down to the lobby in plenty of time, only to discover that Matt and Norma were the only others there. Turned out Stephen and Tomas were just running a little late, Lynn slept in, Heather was being sick after her big night, Ali was packing and when she was phoned, she told Matt that Jo never came home. A little bit of chaos to start our morning off right.
So Matt, Norma and I walked back towards Koh San road where Jo was last seen to see if we could find her. We got about 5 minutes from the hotel when who should we see strolling (or stumbling) down the street but the girl herself. So needless to say she was still rather drunk and chatting amiably with a Thai girl (? looked like

Koh Samui 1
Just meters from the beacha young lady, but you can't assume these things in Thailand...) and absolutely convinced that it was only 0430 (it was 0515 by this time) despite the fact that she didn’t actually have a watch to base this assumption on...
So we managed to get her back to the hotel and Ali and I packed her stuff up (rather haphazardly I must say) and we got going from Bangkok around 0530 which wasn’t too bad really. Of course, Jo then went and sobered up on the coach, losing her gaiety and gaining a monstrous hangover in its stead.
So arriving at the ferry terminal in the middle of the afternoon, we boarded a ferry straight away and managed to make it the island of Koh Samui before it got dark. The ferry was only 1 ½ hours so no one even got sea sick.
At the resort (about 10 minutes drive by minibus from the ferry terminal) we were all assigned rooms. However most of us decided that we deserved a bit of a treat by this time and so upgraded our huts a bit. Everyone except Matt and Tomas upgraded to air conditioning. And a few

Perfect place to relaxof us (including Heather and I) went for air conditioning
and beachfront location. We were, in fact, only about 6-8 meters form the water. The hut was nice, with a large bathroom and a lovely porch overlooking the beach. Put simply, it was perfect.
Tonight we tried out the terrace restaurant at the resort and it was well worth it - delicious food and a lovely sea breeze.
Day 59 Koh Samui (Tues)
Sleep in. Go for a swim. Walk along the beach. Leisurely cooked breakfast with fresh fruit. A drink on the porch watching the sea. A walk down to the seven eleven for ‘supplies’. Another swim. Another walk. Another drink. Dinner at the terrace restaurant (deliciously fresh seafood salads). A few drinks on our porch with the rest of the group.
All in all, a fabulous day of relaxation and absolutely no guilty feelings at doing
NOTHING AT ALL.
Day 60 Koh Samui
You know what I wrote for yesterday? Well, repeat that for today...
Day 61 Koh Samui
And repeat again. Perhaps with a few more swims, a book on the beach, and a chat with our German neighbours. Oh, and a massage.
I think the only ‘work’ I have done the past 3 days is my hand washing...unless you count opening the bottle of Vodka? Now that I think about it, it
was a bit of an effort...
