Hello 2006! We write this a little bit hungover to say the least. We left at 9pm and returned at 8.30am today. A Big night. We had a cool NYE - the best ever i think. There was a great atmosphere on the beach. We got tattoes (UV fakes mums - dont panic), drank copious amounts of buckets, danced til our feet stung and then some more still. Spoke to lots of randoms, photographed with policemen, got seperated and then refound each other hours later - a really good time! Lara got her flips nicked which apparently means we need to buy another pair of flip flops - she already has her eye on a replacement pair of orange ones. When the bells went it was incredible. There were thousands of people on the beach, fireworks, ... read more

To end 2005, Iona an I took a day trip to Phang Nga Bay…and what a beautiful day it was! The tour company picked us up from our Guest House at the crack of dawn (a poor reoccurring trend for our holiday). We drove for a while in a mini-bus…I’m not really sure how long, because I was fast asleep! Our first stop was an elephant camp. Iona and I were “elephant camp pros” at this point, but it was the first time for the other 4 people in our group. We hung out with the baby elephant and his mama, while the others had a ride along a trail. It was feeding time, and since I was the only one around, I got to do the honors! The islands of Phang Nga Bay are a ... read more

On 28th December we moved to Phangan Cabana on the other side of the Island. The accommodation was questionnable for the 20 pounds price tag per night but the scenery was awesome. The beaches were tucked into little coves and the water was crystal clear turquoise. Shame about the rain though! Michael is really unwell (lara following closely behind), but the pharmacy is keen to give you a different kind of drug if you know what we mean. After scoring (poor choice of phrase probably) antibiotics we hired mopeds to cheer ourselves up. Before you all shout at your PC's, it is not really that unsafe and all the people we saw with injuries were probably drunk when they rode them off cliffs. There is not much traffic to negotiate other than other mopeds and any ... read more

Well, it has rained for pretty much the last week. The hours of sun can be counted on one hand. WHen the sun does come out it is stunning. Our pool overlooks Ban Thai beach and accross the water we can see Ko Samui. Our resort is cool (yep, we are relinquishing our "backpacking shoestringers mantle" for chrsitmas and new year), we have a little bungalow by the beach with an outside bathroom (by design this time!), A/C, wooden floors - the works. We have lady boys waiting upon us hand and foot (much to michael and andrews discomfort), free pool table and table tennis in our bar. After arriving, as it was raining we thought it best to have some massages or "massah" as the local ladies(?) scream at you as you walk past. I ... read more

Kim wants to say that she is fine though im sure everyone knows that after her very drunk phone call yesturday! We have decided to stay on the island longer until the 27th as we are having such a good time and have met so many cool people. It would also be nice to be round friends over xmas amd moving on just before christmas means we might not meet anyone for celebrate with. We are all doing a secret santa so we have some presents to open on Christmas day plus we are hoping to have a christmas dinner ... read more

Hey guys Kim and I are now both on the island of Ko Pha Ngan. Per usual the day we travel it was raining and we had to get a ferry across to the island and the seas were quite choppy which didn’t help much with the slight hangovers we had. The island is amazing and not all the roads are paved, there are lots of mud tracks and its more hilly than Wales! It’s far different than the island we were last staying on. There are elephants that roam free in the forests and lots of waterfalls. The place overall is far more remote and has less tourism. Its what we expected Thailand to be like. We are staying at a place called Hadaat Resort which is amazing and far nicer than our last hut. ... read more

Okay go ahead and read the beach. It's a great book but don't read it while traveling to beaches in Thailand. Especially don't read it on a boat with other white tourists heading the biggest tourist party in Asia. It'll make you jaded! Even though I am now jaded, damn good readin', it is unbelievably beautiful here. That is saying something because the seattle weather has followed me and it is cloudy and raining on and off wherever we go. But it's so lush and green and everyone's super nice there's nothing to complain about. Trust me, lindsay and emily will tell you i've tried to find things to complain about. The hostle we're in right now is in the North- East (maybe west i'm pretty sure it's east) side of the island and is called ... read more

We stayed on Ko Pha Ngan for the famous fullmoon party was definetly a highlight(I chose to capture it in black and white). Tragedy struck the day of the fullmoon party because some travelers died while swimming in the water so the beach was closed off, but the gnome was there, so the party was still on.... read more
