About 4 hours sleep is something of a success and the flight is well over half completed when I awake somewhere over Pakistan. Came here once before and this is as close as I want to get these days. Enjoy a good breakfast, watch a highlights show of the Lions in Oz and we are soon arriving over Bangkok about ½ hour early. Unfortunately those in charge at the airport wont give us a gate to dock at and we have to wait till our expected arrival time before we can unload.
We clear immigration quickly as they allow me to enter through the Thai passport desk which as usual is empty rather than the long queues at the overseas passports. Collect bags and pretty soon we are in a taxi battling the joys of Bangkok traffic.
Reach New Siam GH at about 17:00 and enjoy a scolding hot shower before stretching out on the bed for a while. My phone seems to be OK so Jai's daughter has done her job by me whereas Jai's own phone is dead. I phone home to report our arrival.
After sitting around for so long on the plane etc we go out for a walk around the Khao San area and although there are people about you couldn't describe it as busy. Change some money at 49.63 = 1GBP which is the best rate I've had for a few years.
Back to the GH for some much missed Thai food then a small beer at a corner bar before turning in for the night about 20:45.
