Wandered through Banglamphu markets yesterday, which was interesting. It'a a lot like Bali here, but a bit more laid back than Kuta. Had 'pud' thai for lunch/dinner from a street vendor (their translations can be interesting) for 15B, and then had a great pineapple shake - which is basically just pineapple and ice blended together. Ended up going to bed early again as I was so tired from walking around everywhere.

Had an interesting shower this morning, trying not to soak the whole bathroom. Bought a pineapple shake on the street for breakfast from a different vendor, and this one came in a bag. They blend it up and pour it into a little shopping bag and give you a straw, so you can carry it around the streets with you while you drink it. Bought a fake Gucci handbag, and booked a trip for tomorrow morning to the floating markets.

Walked down towards the Grand Palace, and went to the National Museum. It was interesting learning about the history of Thailand, from Ayutthaya til Thonburi and Rattanakosin. Took heaps of photos of statues and the architecture, so will try get some here by the time I leave. Left the

gallery and headed down to the Royal Palace, which cost 250B to get into. It was built in 1782, and houses Wat Phra Kaeo, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha , the most sacred of all Thai temples. The Emerald Buddha is a lot smaller than I imagined, but it was cool to see. I spent ages wandering the grounds - it's a 945 000 square metre compound - and taking photos, then went on to Wat Pho. Wat Pho is fantastic, I enjoyed it even more than the Grand Palace. The reclining buddha is breathtaking, I went through and looked at it twice. The tour guides were pretty excited because the princess - who's 54 and very beautiful they say - was coming this afternoon to pray at Wat Pho. I left before she arrived, and wandered back to Banglamphu through the university grounds. I had some panang curry and a pineapple shake while a bit of watching million dollar baby at the guesthouse. I'm off now to buy some water and snacks to take to the floating markets tomorrow.
