Leaving the mainland
On the boat to Ko Samui Praise the lord there is more to Thailand than Bangkok, that place stinks!
Not sure what exactly the smell is though, maybe a combination of fish sauce, fried street food and warm open sewage. Like nothing I have smelt before not even festival toilets compete with the sheer stomach turning odour that lingers in your nostrils as you desperately try to breath through your ears! On the plus side we had a pool on the roof and a nice gym in our hotel which passed the time, two days there was plenty. By chance managed to find the Thailand tourism authority which enabled us to book two weeks accommodation and transfers without being completely overcharged. Took a ride in a Tuk Tuk which wasn't half as bad as anyone had led me to believe.
Got the first flight out of there to Ko Samui which is closer to what I expected of Thailand. White sand, calm waters and sunshine that actually cooks you alive, beautiful!
Unfortunatley had to visit the hospital yesterday to get medicine for food poisening which was most unpleasent, never felt quite so ill. Was not too keen on eight hours on an IV in hospital or
the cost of this so opted for the seven bags of dodgy looking drugs which seem to have done the trick, fingers crossed.
We have both had a massage on the beach which have been pretty painful. Not sure I would have another although Ruthy seems to enjoy the pain and opted for the foot and reflexology this morning which was apparently even more painful.
All being well we will arrive in Ko Phangan tomorrow afternoon and neither of us will have food poisening. May go to McDonanlds tonight just to be sure!

Keep taking the tablets
& drink plenty of bottled water. Hope you have fully recovered now and are enjoying yourselves. Don't lay out in the sun too much - sun stroke can be pretty bad too, ask dad. When he got it he saw horses jumping over him. Hmmm - He just said it was for real. Dad keeps saying he is going to have a massage, but all men must be cowards and have a low pain threshold. A massage is only any good if it hurts! Look forward to next blogg and itinerary.
