Bien le bonjour! C'est sur le balcon de notre chambre, avec la vue illustrée à la première photo, que j'écris ces lignes. Mais avant d'arrivée jusqu'ici, laissez-moi vous parler de notre arrivée au Sri Lanka, et du triangle culturel.. Le vol de Londres jusqu'au Sri Lanka dura environ 10 heures, ce qui toutefois paru beaucoup moins long, car, complètement épuisés, mon père et moi-même avons roupillé quasi tout le long.. C'est pour dire, nous avons même raté le décollage..! L'avion du Sri Lanka Air-Line, était, disons, pas super confortable.. Un fait intéressant reste que le siège s'ajustait de manière à choisir le niveau de bosse inconfortable au niveau du bas-dos, mais sans jamais pouvoir l'éliminer au complet... *soupire*, bref. Happy Birthday Evie. Today is Evie's Birthday, she is 7 years old. Nice one Chopa! Evie called this morning from Negombo to tell me and Sarah about her last few days. Her and Abigail have been enjoying the very hot weather by jumping in the pool and relaxing with their nanan and grandad. They are both enjoying their time there and find it all very exciting. 36 hours travelling, 2 delays, 3 films, 4 magazines and no sleep later, we made it to Sri Lanka. Needless to say our taxi pick up was no where to be seen, but there was hundreds of eager taxi drivers ready to take us anywhere. We opted for the least sleaziest taxi driver to discover that in fact his truck/van/death trap was not fully operationaland required a push from 3 of his fellow taxi friends along the taxi rank! However we survived the drive to hotel - how the cyclists, tuk tuks and other drivers did, I'm not sure (the horn seems to be a signal for turning, overtaking and general bad driving!). And just like that, I'm back....not to my birth place, but to the country I feel most comfortable in. I have been planning how and when to get back to India since my plane landed in Montreal last May! I took a minor detour to spend 3 months in Vancouver living with the Epstein's, and then came back, worked some more and by January was all set to embark on another 6 months in the one place on earth that really makes me feel alive. I've been trying to figure out what exactly it is that sets India apart for me....what it is that draws me back here for the third year in a row.
