... read more

Okay..for the 2nd part of my Cebu Trip, here's the complete details of my close encounter with whale-sharks. It was a dilemma between a day tour at Bohol or Whale-shark watching at Oslob for us on our 3rd day at Cebu. Of course we took in consideration the fact that most of my squads are not a swimmer. (Ahmmm..wait.. not sure about it maybe I'm just talking about my self?. Lol). But then again, due to limited time we decided to proceed to Oslob for a once in a lifetime experience. We have this joke about our trip that it was all about pushing yourselves to the limits.Push pa more! LoL( Did I got it right?) It was a very early morning travel for us since the 1st bus trip to Oslob is 3:30 AM. We ... read more

When I was a kid, I am fond of watching National Geographic Channel (NGC) especially covers about the mysteries of the deep blue waters of this planet. It was through that show that I encountered the term "Marine Bioligist". I told myself that one day, those marine bioligists featured in NGC will be my colleagues someday. Well, let's just say that the probability of that day to happen is remote because I happened to be a graduate of accounting course and I am employed in the 4th largest universal bank in the Philippines. Anyway, let's cut the chase and proceed to my experience swimming with the gentle giants of the queen city of the south or "Butanding" as the locals call it. It is located at Tan-awan, Oslob, Cebu City, Philippines and takes about five hours ... read more

Whale sharks, rice terraces and Mcdonalds Well, it is time for an update on our travels in the Philippines. After having said goodbye to Katrine and Daniel we went to Dumaguete on Negros by ferry. The ferries are quite good and a rather cheap way of commuting. We arrived in Dumaguete at 2 am. But since this is the Philippines, there is no problem in getting transportation or accommodation at this time of night. Dumaguete is a university city and rare for a Philippine city, it actually has a lot of charm. Dumaguete is certainly our favorite “major” city in the Philippines. We enjoyed the western restaurants at the water front and we found a fantastic massage place called Lotus Spa. In this spa you could actually buy a monthly card with unlimited use ... read more

The last time I wrote I had seen enough of Cebu City and was headed for the bus station and the southwest coast of Cebu Island. The bus system in the Philippines is really good. The air-conditioned buses are very comfortable, with some dvds showing (if you can hear them). I’ve calculate that most bus journeys cost about €1 for an hour or travelling. So if you are told that the trip will be three hours long, count on a fare of about €3. The journey was uneventful but I love taking photos of the homes and people as we drive by. I like to see them working, playing, eating together, shopping, etc. My original plan had been to go to Oslob where, it was said, one could swim with the whale sharks and dolphins. The ... read more
