Asakusa...is a tourist trap. It's really interesting too though. I had some trouble getting there because my station required me walking all over a town to get to the subway. Bah to that, but I made it in time to hear the last bit of Shin-san's speech. Shin-san is one awesome guy. So first we got to walk around Senso-ji Temple (Asakusa Kannon Temple). It's Buddhist, as indicated by the word "temple" (Shinto has "shrines"). BIG temple, really old temple. It's a feeling I can't really describe to stand in a building that's been around since 645. If you're interested, here's a good site about all the history. We got to the gate and went through a shopping mall area, where I bought some presents for people (Christmas comes early, don't ya know) and just generally ... read more

... read more

Can't believe that we only have 19 more days here in Japan (and only 12 more NOVA working days - YAY!!) We've been pretty busy over the past few weeks doing last minute Japanese touristy things, as well as taking every opportunity to hang out with our friends here (all the going out drinking and socialising is starting to take it's toll - we're sooooooo happy to have a quiet night at home this evening.) Amidst all of this....... last Wednesday we had a truly Japanese experience and we were transformed into a Samurai and Geisha for a day (well for a couple of hours at least!) It was an awesome experience. We went to this studio in Omotesando (in Tokyo) called KATSURA PHOTO STUDIO. It was actually a wet and cold day outside, so it ... read more

---ooo--- English below ---ooo--- Ohayo gozaimass Et oui, notre dernier jour a Tokyo!!!

I nostri pasti ci costano in genere 1000 yen (circa 6,70 euro).

So... I swear I am not a blogger! Several of you may remember my anti-blog ramblings before leaving Edmonton. I still refuse to go blog-crazy, but here are some photos from my first days in Japan. My initial moments in Tokyo were just slightly overwhelming. Tokyo is a great way to keep your ego in check... you very quickly feel small and insignificant. There is some irony (is that the right word?) in that most first-time visitors to Japan fly straight into Tokyo. I imagine it might be preferable for some to ease into the country by visiting a smaller centre first . Needless to say, Tokyo is quite an introduction and an unforgettable experience!... read more

Hello Everyone, So, like I said in my previous blog, I went to Fuji Kyu Highland today. I went with 3 of my stage managers Mori-San, Hana-San and shy boy, and Miho-san one of the chorus fish I work with. I was a little nervous about going because I am the only person who doesn't speak Japanese well, but they did a great job at keeping me included in the conversations. We all met at Maihama Station at 8:00 in the morning and Mori-San drove us to Fuji-Kyu Highland. It took about 2 and a half hours to drive there but we got caught in Sunday morning traffic so we didn't arrive there until about 11:15. This was okay because we ended up staying until the park closed at 8:00 pm, so it was a long ... read more

---ooo--- English below ---ooo--- Ohayo gozaimass! Promenez ... read more
