Well on the train to Nagoya and once again a smooth transition the only problem is my suitcase handle has slightly buckled when I fell on the escalator and twisted the handle but not only that have a major bruise on my bum. How can you fall going on an uphill escalator and land on your bum with your suitcase higher than you? I do not know but all I can say is I now have a fear of escalators with a suitcase, ha ha ( the full story is to come)
So we arrive at Kyoto train station and Mike goes off to find out where our hotel is and off he pops to the Tourist Information desk while I hold the suitcases (with one handle a little bit out of shape!). So he comes back and tells me he walked into the window instead of the door and the poor Japanese ladies could not help themselves but cry with laughter (Mr Bean, returns, ha ha).
So we find the hotel really easy and decide to go to Nanzenji Temple which should have lead direct into the Philosopher’s Way (think I need this like
a whole in the head but realise I need this more than anyone else) and also I said to Mike I wanted to go here this time. So we get the metro and then walk and walk and walk - we find the Nanzenji temple and by the time we get there it is closed but I’ll be back (Schwarzenegger here I come). So we walk along the Philosopher’s Way and Mike says there are loads of places to eat but hey ho they are all closed - but do you know it was peaceful it was really worthwhile.
We find a little place to eat and have a beer so all is well in the Fairbairn camp. Until we have to get home - so we get the bus and work out all the differences in paying the fare, but hey ho we do it. So now we get the the main train station with the bus station in front of us - how hard could it be to find your hotel when it outside the East Side of the Train/Bus Station - easy you are probably saying WELL NO IT IS NOT after 1 1/2 hours
Miniature Cocktail for Major Cost
Tripadvisor here I come and I am a person who feels fair is fair but that is taking the biscuit. walking through and over the skytrack etc and etc I give up and hail a taxi - crying on my hands and knees please take me to my hotel, PLEASE.
So we get to the hotel and find the bar - we both now have grey hair and have hands shaking that we never see a bus station again. We order a cocktail each and what came was a babies cocktail glass - excuse me what a rip off. So Mike goes to find a 7 - 11 for water etc and I go to find the room. No-one told me there was a main building and a south building - so I am trying to get into 514 room in the main building and hey ho our room is 1514 in the south building - I kept putting my key card in as it went red / green me thinking what the hell is going on and then thought maybe there should be a 1 in front like my keycard 1514 ooppps, bimbo moment.
So now back in the hotel room and ready for the morning - going to the tourist info desk with Mr Bean (oops Mike) to to sort this bus station thingy out.
Will we ever get out of Japan? I hope not!
