today we ventured out with one of the local drivers (big scorpion) to Ubud. we had planned on doing a trip to dreamland, but decided to do something easier on our bodies, this decision may have been influenced by a really good and long surf session the previous day. I won't speak for Andy, but my shoulders were begging for a day of rest. We left our hotel after an as usual excellent breakfast and drove about an hour to Ubud, first to the Bali zoo just outside of Ubud. Selamat sore, ...taaak konecne trocha kludu pri mori....(po ceste z BROMA plnej necakanych zvratov a prekvapeni..:)..... Mestecko Sanur lezi na juznom pobrezi ostrova Bali len asi 7 km od Denpasaru.....a je to take kludne letovisko pre ludi ktori chcu mat trochu kludu.... My sme okolo obeda vyrazili na obhliadku plazi (niektore vilky pri plazi stoja fakt za to...jedna noc stoji tak okolo 100 USD) a do mesta vybavit par formalit....i taka vymena penazi nie je jednoducha ako sa na prvy pohlad zda...(z niekolko minutovej zalezitosti sa stava zalezitost na hodinku)....."moneychangers" maju niekolko trikov ako dobre okradnut cloveka.....napriklad s oblubou vymienaju tlacitka na kalkulackach (miesto tlacitka = maju tlacitko vyvolania udaju z pamete a naopak)...tiez s oblubov pocas pocitania menia kurzy v zavislosti od hodnoty bankoviek a podobne...s Romanom sme presli asi 3 - 4 ziskuchti ... read more

Just sitting here in our new hotel. After we talked to you guys we jumped in this van that took us here, it was about a 2 hour drive, and these roards are crazy, like the road is about as wide as one lane on a highway is, but there would be like a truck in front of us, and on a blind corner we would just pass him and while doing that people on scooters would be passing us, haha. and we're not talking one guy on a scooter here, this is the family vehicle, we saw one scooter with 5 people on it, a mom and dad, 2 small girls on the back beind, kind of on eacothers lap, then a little baby sitting on the dad's lap, crzy shit, and they're passing ... read more

yesterday Andy got his hair dreaded at the Discovery shopping centre, we retreated indoors due to the all of a sudden downpour. it's crazy how it can be suny one minute and out of nowhere it is torrential downpour. I waited around for about the 1+1/2 hours while he got that done. I brought my boardshorts and a towel to maybe get in a session while that was happening, but surf was all flat yesterday. at kuta if was 1-2 feet, and by thge time it stopped raining enough to go stand on the beach and look at it it was about 0-1 ft. Our time in Bali will soon be over. Tomorrow we're leaving for Sydney. The past few days have been very relaxing. We spent most time reading by the pool. Today we went to exchange seven books, that we'd read during the last couple of days. We did some walking along the beach and we did quite a lot of shopping these days. Especially Philipp found some decent cloth in a huge store called Matahari. Things here are just so incredibly cheap. He bought 3 shirts, matching pants and ties. When he paid by credit card, the shop assistant would look at the credit card and go "thank you, Mr. Philipp, please come again". It was so funny to see.
