Hi all, After intense public demand, welcome to India mark 2. This time we thought we'd up the jealousy factor a little bit (the attached beach photos should help). We arrived in Goa last Wednesday and checked into a beautiful little bungalow in Palolem (South Goa). The 150 metre walk to the beach was a bit extreme, but we made the best of it!!! For the next few days we pretty much just chilled out on the beach and soaked up some rays - this has lead to a decent tan for Lucy and a distinct lobster red for me!! I did manage to block up my ears from swimming and had to go to the local hospital to have them cleaned out. The Doctor insisted on showing Lucy every bit of wax that came out; ... read more

Decided to take a quite short and not too comfy (in the afternoon heat) taxi ride to Baga Beach. My Dad had already been there earlier and had said he didn't like it because of all the tourists there. The beach front itself did have a very european beach look about it, sun loungers and ketchup for all! We decided to have lunch on the 2nd shack we passed because we were already bored of all the people coming to talk us into their shack bacasue it was 'no1 english bar!' We had a supprisingly good day there, the tandoori fish was amazing and the beer kept flowing which is always good! To round things off we got a Hukka pipe and some banana stuff (i'm guessing it was tobacco, although it didn't taste like ... read more

Just a brief blog entry this time.... Jemma, Claire's best mate, her brother Joe and his girlfriend Lorraine came for a couple of weeks, so we spent much of the time showing them round Goa. A couple of highlights were staying at Dunes in Mandrem, where we stayed with Sean back in November, and a visit to the spice plantation where they washed an elephant. Dunes is built on the side of the most unspoilt beach we have found in Goa. Wanting to arrive in style, we hired a speedboat from Baga, and the journey took about 45 minutes, including a few minutes spent watching dolphins which swam up to about ten yards from us. Our elation at watching them and of arriving at Mandrem beach was short lived though - despite booking the accomodation and ... read more

Have arrived down south to GOA after a delightful plane journey - Michelle got stuck next to some goofy Indian lady who took it upon herself to burp throughout the entire flight!!! Disembark the plane, ground temperature 33 degrees - thats right people 33 degrees its hot hot hot over here and its cold cold cold over there!!! mehh!! Get a taxi to our digs, Villa Fatima Beach Resort (we're right behind the beach!) it even has its own pool! And the owner a canadian/indian calle Tony is a LEGEND! He's ace, he's like a dad away from home. He gives us the do's and the don'ts - a proper father talk, don't accept drinks from strangers, don't leave your drinks unattended, don't trust the Goan lads!! We have a walk down to the beach and ... read more

Sitting in Brisbane it feels a long time since we were enjoying the delights of Goa! A lot has happened since then but we will try to recap! When we left Delhi on the 20th of December our flights were delayed. Thankfully only for 2 hours as all the internal flights suffer from delays and sometimes you can get stranded in airports for hours on end! We arrived in Goa and got a taxi to "Rani and Nanis Guest House"'our home for 6 nights... and what a great home it was! Based at the north end of the very busy touristy Baga Beach the guest house was saved from the maddness of normal tourist Goa by having a river between it and them... We found a fantastic beach which was about half a kilometres walk along ... read more

Well yet again time has flown and we have been slacking! Oh well, this might be another mammoth entry so bear with me! So….since last time…… We spent a weekend in Mumbai (Bombay) a few weeks ago. We traveled up by train overnight which takes 12 hours. The train was actually much nicer than we were expecting, there are 7 classes of train travel in India, we went second class sleeper, which is about the middle. Basically there are 2 long padded bench seats seating 6 people which convert to 4 bunks and then the luggage racks make up the other 2 bunks. You can hire a sheet, pillow and blanket for 20Rs. So after a fairly good nights sleep, (once we blocked out the farting burping snore-fest going on around us with cotton wool in ... read more

We were in Baga Beach, Goa. We stayed with our friends Tilly, Ian and Lewis at a little guest house called Nani's and Rani's. Most days we went to the mini beach which was a wee clamber over the rocks. On Christmas Day we were on the beach until midday and then mum organised for a boat to pick us up and take us dolphin watching! We saw three pods of dolphins and I loved it! When we landed back on the little beach our friends had ordered Ronans favourite snack which was ready on the table - chips and tomato sauce and coke - what a great Christmas lunch!! Later on, Cliff who owned the beach bar, stayed open late for us to have our Christmas Dinner on the beach! Fresh tuna steaks, yum yum. ... read more
