Palolem Beach
Its a Hard Life! Hi all,
After intense public demand, welcome to India mark 2. This time we thought we'd up the jealousy factor a little bit (the attached beach photos should help).
We arrived in Goa last Wednesday and checked into a beautiful little bungalow in Palolem (South Goa). The 150 metre walk to the beach was a bit extreme, but we made the best of it!!!
For the next few days we pretty much just chilled out on the beach and soaked up some rays - this has lead to a decent tan for Lucy and a distinct lobster red for me!! I did manage to block up my ears from swimming and had to go to the local hospital to have them cleaned out. The Doctor insisted on showing Lucy every bit of wax that came out; as if trying to shame me or something. I was half expecting them to bottle it and offer it to her!! No pictures of this joyous event are available I'm afraid.
The restaurants in the area are all really nice; the food is so excellent considering the low prices (say $2 for a meal). In particular we found this amazing little
Chez Lucy
It took me 3 Hours to knock up our Ikea Bungalow! place called "Cairans" which served us the best mussels I have ever tasted in my life (no offense Paul - your mussels are also nice). In fact, we decided between us that it was probably the best dish we had ever eaten!! yum, yum, yum food, food, food - nothing changes with me I guess!
On Monday we checked out (with much sadness) and headed for North Goa to a place called Anjuna. Anjuna is much more hippyfied (wow- I coined a new word??) with a few old western twerps with dreds and beards playing 1 drum. Aside from the Hippies, there seems to be a great fondness for Hardcore Music - I mean really really fast head shakin crap!! We found it pretty funny that somewhere in India would have big adverts for a Trance and Hardcore Nights.
On Wednesdays, the "Flea Market" comes to Anjuna. Scores of traders turn up and set up stalls in a big area next to the beach. We had fun haggling for some bargins - although some of the traders seemed to have a different idea of what haggling was; Example:
Lucy: How much for 1
Seller: 120
Lucy: For 2?

Seller: 350
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We checked out from Anjuna today and arrived in Baga - which is where I'm writing from right now.
Enjoy the attached pictures and look forward to the next exciting installment.
Namaste (See, I'm already speaking the lingo)
