Big Buddha, is a world apart and completely different to all the other places I have seen in my previous travels.
At first, Big Bouddha, is a sacred place. This gigantic statue is placed at the top of a mountain, which also offers a wonderful view of all the other surrounding mountains. It is placed here to dominate and protect the area, I guess.
To arrive in this nice world, I had to queue quite a bit. You have the choice of taking the gondolas or a bus or a taxi or whatever you like. I took the option of the bus, because I wasn't ready to queue for 3hours, yes * hours of queue!!! I only had to queue for a small half an hour. I also think I chose the wrong day and time: a late Sunday morning. So there were a lot of Chinese, Indians, and other people from Asia and Buddhists. This is a bit like the Mecque of the Buddhists, I think. Actually, Hong Kong's Big Buddha, is the biggest one in the world!
We could see a lot families that came to pray. There is this place, a bit raised up, just in front of Big Bouddha. In the middle of this platform, you can La Fameuse Queue / This Queue
Pour redescendre avec les télécabines.
To go back down with the gondolas. notice a circle. Apparently when we go in the middle of this circle, it brings us positive things, I don't really know what, but this is what I deduced by seeing people more or less queuing to place themselves there. They would also place their children, one by one. When they were placed I saw them holding their hands together so I think they were praying there too, and thanking Buddha. After each member of the family went through this process, they'd take their family picture in this magic place. Big Buddha, is the main attraction here, but there still are other temples to see and visit or pray in if you're Buddhist. You are allowed to take some picture in some, like it can be forbidden in others. In the one I think was the prettiest, you were not allowed to take any pictures. Inside this temple, everything is in gold, and there are a lot of statues all out of gold too. I think this is another good reason for you to go and visit the Big Buddha with your proper eyes!
A little bit further away, we can find this little charming village with a lot of shops for tourists. This village is located next to the bus station and to the gondolas. In fact, you will see in the pictures I took, a huge very neat queue, actually I was impressed! However, lets remind us, that Hong Kong originally belonged to England, and that the English population is very respectful and calm when queuing is needed, compared to the French people. So to come back to what I wanted to say, is that you don't only queue for ages to climb up to see the Big Buddha, but you also have to queue back to go down again!
In this village, i noticed a sign that made me laugh because it was saying: "Do not focus on your smartphone games, be safe!". As if you would even notice this sign when looking down at your phone. I believe this sign was displayed after Pokemon Go.
