getting soaked catching a train
Day 3:
So today was a pretty lazy day.
All i did was lay on the beach and wait for my train at 11pm.
I still managed to get a little sunburnt despite the fact the sun never peaked through the clouds all day!
After boarding the train in what can only be described as a tropical storm, i tried to get some sleep but the air-con in 4 person cabin was "broken" so i couldnt sleep for hours. 😞
The train carriage also looked so old that Stalin could have ridden it and toilet looked (and smelt) like it hadn't been cleaned since.

Day 4: Tbilisi.
Wow. What a lovely city. I arrived at the train station at 7.30am and after stepping of the train was a little worried because the station is more than a little bleak and hoped this wouldnt reflect on the rest of the city.
After finding my hotel and taking a shower I went for a look around (see photos) Tbilisi really is quite spectacular.
It's built in a river valley and spreads over both banks to the hills on either side.
After having a look round the old town i went up

to the fortress and "mother georgia" a 60ft high aluminium woman on top of the hill. She has a sword in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, suposedly to resemble the georgian phyce.
The climb up to the fortress was nothing short of monumental in the midday sun.
I've bought my ticket to Baku on the 23rd and tomorrow im going to visit the Stalin museum at Gori, which is the city he was born in. (the museum has the stance that he wasn't such a bad lad)
Im knackerd after a day walking round so I'll probably get an early night and get the morning eltricka to Gori

Is nice blog
Loving the blog. Tbilisi looks spectacular. Looking forward to reading about Gori It will be interesting to find out how they manage to put a positive spin on Stalin. Not much happening here except I think a tramp has moved into your room because I am sure you wouldn't have left it in such a mess! Love Mum
