Interesting, but.. Where is the world are the photos of Baku. Absheron peninsula and Xinaliq are one thing, but not showing what the capital city looks like is another. I personally thought that Baku was prettier than Tbilisi, Ashgabad and Almaty combined, at least in terms of architecture, but enjoyed my experiences in most cases. Georgian's for some reason look angry and depressed while Azeris are more worried about stuffing you with delicious food than showing you around..lol..either way, keep those blogs coming. Cheers from the US!
Borat I rather liked the photo of the open air laundry. The chickens are a nice touch. Do those railway trucks contain detergent? Now remember, when you finally get to Kazakhstan try not to dwell on the subject of Borat and his Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Oh, and try to avoid eating dogs. I know we eat crocodile out here, but given half a chance they eat us too. Keep going, this is getting really interesting. GUJ.
It's a bit like Tasmania, without the beaches What a fantastic journey Craig. I had a look at Baku on Google Earth. I didn't realise it was the world's first commercial centre for oil production in the 1870's. Those mountain roads look a bit hairy. Where's the white line and the barrier rail? Was that the only car in Quba? Reminds me of a taxi in Vanuatu. We went 100metres and the tyres blew out! Hi Em, hope he's got clean socks. Keep going Craig, this makes great reading. GUJ
Hey Craig, woah Xinliq looks amazing, I'm very jealous. Derby's pretty wet still at the minute, and it's going to get a lot wetter at the weekend. Hoping we dont all get washed away.
Look forward to the next installment,
stay safe, Em x
P.s. Big hello and best wishes to Great Uncle John
Crook Guts My sympathy on hearing about your crook guts. I had a bad pizza the other night myself. In Mexico they call it Montezuma's revenge, in former Soviet Republic it called Uncle Joe's revenge! You're young you'll get over it. I reckon its that water at the beach. That's why no one else was there! It's much safer on the beaches of the Great Southern Land, we only have crocodiles, tree snakes, deadly spiders, deadly jelly fish, sting rays, oh. and Great White sharks.
Expanding readership... Oi! Leachy!
I had lunch in town with my mum today and was regaling her with your adventures. She was very interested and wanted your blog address. Keep it up.
Have you heard any UK news? Gordon Brown becomes PM today. Vast swathes of the north of England are under water because of massive rainfall (Hillsborough looked like a massive swimming pool from above), er, that's it really.
Oh, and your car's fine.
Observations What a fantastic time you are having Craig. Your Great Uncle Tony would be proud of you, visiting all those oil bearing regions. Now Uncle Joe was not such a bad chap really, despite all the US movies and UK propaganda, Joe Stalin and his boys were the ones who beat the Germans in World War Two. Pity he then subjugated Eastern Europe for long time. Oh, and when you want to see REAL beaches come to the Great Southern Land.
its alright for some with lovely weather, sitting on a beach.
its rained here everyday for the past week! the only time i sat on the beach was at 1am, freezing!!!
We are really enjoying reading your blog - keep it up. Very jealous of your day on the beach as it has been raining here for days and looks like it is going to carry on for days to come.
Is nice blog Loving the blog. Tbilisi looks spectacular. Looking forward to reading about Gori It will be interesting to find out how they manage to put a positive spin on Stalin. Not much happening here except I think a tramp has moved into your room because I am sure you wouldn't have left it in such a mess! Love Mum
