So this is proving to be a lot more difficult than I had anticipated. Most of you know already, but I am having a hard time getting settled in here. My apartment is alright, I have a room mate for another week (then I will completely lonely...) and I bought some stuff last night to clean the place top to bottom (it's dirty...) I've been thrown into teaching without much training at all, and am trying the best I can. I know that it will come with time, but it's hard to face right now. My schedule is frustrating. I have to power-write here, as I'm on a lunch break and don't have a lot of time. Monday morning at the airport was tough, but I made it. Made it to Vancouver where I had to pick up my ticket, which hadn't arrived yet. I got it eventually.. I had a four hour layover in Van, then my flight on a huge plane to Beijing. The flight was 11 hours. Long. Squished. Hot. I arrived at the Beijing airport and 8.5 hours later was on my last plane ride to Jinan (an hour late). Richard picked me up at the airport and drove me to my apartment. I'll be sharing with a guy from Bulgaria until Friday next week when he leaves and I have the place to myself. We left Beijing to explore the Great Wall. It wasn't what I expected at all. I knew that it wasn't flat but I had no idea how uneven the steps would be. By the time I got to the top I was using my hands to get up to the next step. I enjoyed the veiw and a cold drink at the top before heading back down. Our next stop was the Sacred way leading to the Ming Tomb. The next day we visited the Tempale of Heaven and then took the train to Ji'nan which is the capital of the Shandong Provience. There are over 1,000 springs and lakes throughout the city. We went to Qufu where the home, temple and cemetery of Confucious are located. Tonight we will take the bus to Tai'an. ... read more
