I had a visitor!
My friend Kelly, came to visit me. I still had to work and so during the day Kelly had to entertain herself but during the time we had together we did a lot! Hong Kong Disneyland, Sea World Ice and Snow display, Window of the World and the Zoo.
It was only a week since my birthday, only a week since I left Disney and I was back again but this time only for a day. Kelly didn't know where we were going and I wanted to keep it that was so on the last metro ride (which is Disney themed) I blindfolded Kelly and didn't let her see until we were outside entrance. We spent the day in the park, on the rides, looking in the shops and talking. After the night parade and fireworks we headed back to my apartment. This was Kelly's first Disney experience and even though we were both tired we both had had an amazing day.
The next Saturday we went to see the Sea World Ice and Snow Display, which was only running for a few months. We were given coats before going in, they were definatley
needed - it was freezing. We didn't really know what to expect; I'd seen a few pictures but that was all. It wasn't the biggest place but the ice sculptures were really good. You could actually sit in the snow train and igloo. I went on the toboggan run and snow donuts before leaving - great fun.
Next day was Window of the World. An amusement park with statues of the world's most famous landmarks. The Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and the Taj Mahal everything was there. It was a hot day so we took our time going around and saw everything. I sat on a camel and had my picture taken in front of the pyramids. There was such a good view over Shenzhen and across the bay to Hong Kong from the top of the Eiffel Tower. They even had the Alps where you could ice skate, toboggan, ski, snow board and donut. I skied while Kelly watched. It wasn't the best ski area but being able to ski in South China was a good enough experience for me.
During Kelly's stay we ate at a lot of different restaurants. Some Chinese, some Western. Kelly had
a favourite in Co-Co Park a shopping centre near where I live. They did beef noodles which she loved.
The next weekend was our last together. Kelly would be leaving on the Monday. Both of us love zoo's so on the Saturday we headed out to Shenzhen Zoo. We got there pretty early which was definitely the right idea. As the day went on the crowd got a lot bigger. We fed giraffes, zebras and elephants and of course took lots of photos at the same time. I also got to sit on an Elephant and hold a snake. I wasn't prepared for the snake, I had prepared myself to just touch the snake when the next thing I knew it's around my neck. The zoo had such a wide range of animalss from birds - bears. I'd never seen a bear before and that was a wonderful experience. It was another hot day and by around mid-afternoon we were both very hot so after making sure we hadn't missed anything we headed home.
Having Kelly visit was brilliant I just wish she could have stayed a little longer so we could have explored more together.
