Happy Birthday to me. Happy Birthday to me.
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love Disney. I've been to Disney Land Paris eight times and this weekend would be my first trip to Hong Kong Disneyland.
Changing out of our Minnie Mouse outfits and putting normal clothes on (though where we were going, our costumes perhaps would be more ‘normal’) Val and I left for Hong Kong straight after Halloween day at work. We had booked a Disney hotel for the Saturday night and had thought we had somewhere booked for Friday but during the day we received an email telling us our stay had been cancelled. We still have no idea why.
We arrive in Hong Kong not knowing the area and having no where to stay. We try a handful of places but none have rooms free, we look on websites but everywhere is either really expensive or full!
I ended up Facebooking a friend that I went to school with. She lives in Hong Kong and I was hoping she'd be able to help. Luckily, she was able
to and came to meet us.
It turned out there was an expo on that weekend which is why the hotels were so busy. Heisley tried a few hotels but still no luck. She then tried a friend in the police force for ideas While waiting for him, we had dinner!
He thought he knew somewhere and took us there. It was somewhere, if alone Val and I would never consider. You had to walk through a garage then go up in a lift to find the reception. By agreeing to share a small bed in a small room, we were able to have the very last room in the hotel. It was only for a night. By this time it was midnight and we went to bed.
Up bright and early and off to Disney Land we go! First stop was the hotel to check in. They noticed it was my birthday the next day and said they would decorate the room for me, I also got a birthday badge!!
It is now time to enter the park. We were determined to do all the rides and
get as many character autographs as possible. We were worse than any child! Once we enter the park the first thing we do is join the queue to get Chip and Dales autograph. At this point we realise we don't have anything for them to sign, so Val keeps our place in the queue and I go and get us both pens and books.
Throughout the day we go on plenty of rides, get plenty of autographs and of course take lots of photos.
Our hotel has a pool and we had thought we would use it but by the time we got back after the fireworks it was nearly ten, and after the lateness of the night before we just want to sleep.
It's my birthday!! I put my badge on and we head down for breakfast. We have our photo with Mickey and head off in to the park. Another day of rides, autographs and photos. Characters and staff members wish me happy birthday all day. I ring my parents while in a queue for a picture with Wild Wild West Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Earlier
in the day Val had bought me a balloon for my birthday and I tied it to a bag so as not to lose it.. A lot of rides wouldn't let me take it on with me but they kept it safe for me till after the ride.
After the evening parade and fireworks, it was time to go. We found the bus stop and bought our ticket. The bus took us to Huanggang boarder, luckily I knew how it worked now. From there it was a taxi back and bed.
A birthday weekend, meeting an old friend, Disneyland with new friends and hundreds of new memories. What could be better?
