Hi People,
So luckily I was feeling miles better this morning, still had a few stomach cramps but ok to go on the boat trip.
We headed down to the Happiness bar to meet the people on the '3 island trip' with us, there was a good mix of Brits, 2 Germans, 6 Argentineans and an Indian family. Breakfast was included in the tour, we both had scrambled eggs in a baguette, with a fruit juice. We then headed out on our dodgy yellow boat complete with car engine mounted on the back, with a starter which was just a hanging wire (just like P&O ships 😉!!!).... and headed about 30 minutes to the first little island, we anchored off the island so we all did some snorkelling. It was the best yet-great coral and some coral fish with good visibility. We then headed to another island, which we stayed for about 2-3 hours, sunbathing, reading and lunching. The lunch was also included-it was chicken, rice, bread and salad...it filled a hole. We then headed to another island, for more snorkelling, but this time the visibility was so poor, everyone had a little dip and
then headed back to the boat. Neil however (not so) gracefully jumped off the boat eager for more snorkelling, not realising it was so shallow, and jumped onto a sea urchin.... the boat driver didn't speak much English, but he said no problem..... but then preceded to beat the bottom of Neil's wounded foot with a snorkel tube..... Neil wasn't too bothered as he got straight back in the water.
We got back to the hostel about 3.20pm, we chatted to the Argentinean boys on the way back, they were very nice, advising us about South America ;-)
As it was our last night we had to go into the centre (a 15 minute tuk tuk away) to have a look and finally meet our friend Jess Brabant's brother who owns the bar 'The Big Easy'
So after a shower, we went in about 4.30pm. Neil managed to get some flip-flops, finally after not having any for 4 days. We had some tea down the road, unfortunately I still don't have much of a taste for anything so I tried to force down some bruschetta 😞 I hate being ill!!). We
then went to the 'Big Easy' bar, we ordered some beers and played pool, whilst waiting for Tom (Jess's brother) to arrive. For a jug of beer in the bar-5 pints, it works out to be £1.60!!!! Tom arrived at about 7.30pm, we said hello and had a little chat, Neil also got a free BigEasy t-shirt, which he is really pleased with!
We got a tuk tuk back to the Otres area, but asked to be dropped off at the Saturday 'night market' which was located between Otres 1 and 2 beaches, it was a brilliant atmosphere. There was live singing, food stalls, space cookies, jewellery, clothes, cakes, savour food, 85% absinth all on sale at the various stalls. Travellers galore. It was right up our street! But this stupid stupid stomach bug I've got was giving me grief again so all i wanted to do was curl up in bed :-( So we headed home..... well I say home haha but i mean the dark, sauna shack we are currently trying to survive in.
After a short tuk tuk back, we came across out hostel in complete darkness, the power had gone
out...which means at least the music won't be blaring (ah I'm so miserable when i feel ill-did I tell you all that I was? Yeah got this stomach bug that the manager gave to most of the guests somehow grrrrr).
Found our beds in the dark, luckily I bought a touch with me so I read my book for a bit, just started Dan Brown-The Lost Symbol-really good so far. Neil read his kindle for a bit too. (after finishing a paper back he started 2 days ago!! Annoys me how quick he reads!!!)
Good night
