Saturday was so packed full! We were incredibly busy!
You know, we haven't studied with a huge number of people; mainly with the same ones every day.
I am really glad of that, because it shows they are truly interested! We went back to Angela and Sylvester's house. Sylvester wasn't there, and Angela was sick. However, there was another lady, Yasinta, that we studied with. After we had gotten started, a man came and sat down on a bucket. His name was Godwin, and he studied with us, and seemed very, very interested. We studied the Bible for about two hours with them in their open yard.
Next we went back to the house with the three ladies. David was there, today, and said that he had been baptized the previous night! Praise God!
We talked about miracles, speaking in tongues, and instrumental music. After and hour and a half or so, Leah said that she was ready to accept the Gospel and be baptized! While we waited on her to get ready, they served us hot tea that was very good! Oh, something interesting. Many people around here join the Lutheran Church just because the
Lutherans
promise to bury them! I am serious!
We were supposed to have a Bible study with Mama Carey, but she wasn't home. The good thing about this campaign is that Bertha and Ellrahema know where all these people live and Fariji Paul will continue to study with them after we've gone! The verse we remember is, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase." We're planting seeds here!
One of my favorite memories of Saturday, was walking back to the Church. I wasn't quite there, when a little girl--who I didn't recognize, although she had probably been at class--ran up and hugged me around the legs, then grabbed my hand and held on tight. Right behind her were 2 other girls who did the same thing. It was so sweet and touching! Ninakupenda!
We had rice & beans for lunch today, and I tried Pineapple Fanta to go with it. Very interesting! Right after lunch, Leah was baptized! 😊
Then was the men's seminar, which Cody spoke at, the women's seminar, and the children's class. Today, we had 210 kids! Appoximately....it's a little hard to count when there are that many! Anyway, we talked at Jonah and the
big fish, and about obeying and listening to God. We sang songs in Swahili, and gave them goldfish crackers. They got little Jonah stickers on popsicle sticks for puppets. On the whole, they were very good and attentive. (Only one boy got in trouble, and as a result, he did push-ups!). Cody was donated a few hundred tooth brushes from several dentists, and we gave each child a toothbrush.
I think we had 5 baptisms today, which makes a total of 14! One of the baptisms was Pam's friend, Doreen, from Mt. Kilimanjaro. They had studied with her 2 years ago, and today she had decided to be baptized!
On the way back to the bus, a little girl grabbed my hand and kissed it, then another one kissed me on the cheek!
We went to Njiro complex for supper that night and then hit the hay!
"Come let us sing for joy to the Lord
Let us shout aloud
To the rock of our salvation
Let us come before Him with thanksgiving
And extol Him with music and song.
For the Lord is the great God,
The great King above all gods,
In His hand
are the depths of the earth,
And the mountain peaks belong to Him,
The sea is His, He made it,
And His hands formed the dry land
And His hands formed the dry land!"
