"Bomoa Yote"
The Destruction of families homes and businesses, One young man from the village was killed in the crushing of the walls of his home this week. Day 4 in Marangu Well... I had several amazing pictures from Day 4 of the work being done in the Marangu area, with several exciting things to show. Over 60 bible studies were conducted that day, and one precious soul was added to the Lord's Church in Baptism, named BibiAnna. My niece Nicole lead her first Bible Study in Africa, and I had the greatest pictures of that, (she did an amazing job and I couldn't have been more proud to be there with her at that time!) along with the funny incident that happened to little Gracie.
During the study Gracie was holding little EllyNeema (6 months old), while her mom was translating for Nicole, and she let out a squeal! The Babies diaper had exploded, in a way that can't even be tastefully described without cringing at the thought. It was bad! We'll leave it at that, and it was all over the front of Gracie's little dress. The sweet mama we were studying with brought out a bar of soap and I walked down the trail to the water well in the area, to hand wash and scrub as best I could the baby mess off
marked with and X
Showing that it will be knocked to the ground as well. the dress. Surrounded by the shade of the banana trees, and in the cool of the afternoon air... there wasn't going to be enough time for the dress to dry while we finished the study. So there "Lulu" Gracie sat naked as a jay bird, stripped down to her underwear.. But the mama we studied with went in the house and brought her out a conga and we tied her up in the traditional way of making a dress for little girls with the material. She was precious! and such a trooper, went straight back to holding the baby all over again, chased chickens around the yard barefooted, and tried making the cows moo in their pen. She was just about as African as she could have been that day. and I had the perfect picture. Until...
My purse got stolen as we were out to dinner and the power went out, so we all picked up and left in the dark after paying the bill, and I accidentally walked off from it. Well that's all you have to do here, and its gone for good. Lost my camera (along with all the great pictures from the day) which
was what I hated more than anything, everything else is replaceable. My phone(so if I have missed your call you know why!), money, drivers license from the states and Tanzania as well.... & Last week my Bible was stolen when I laid it down and walked over to talk to someone during a study, so I should have known better, and its my fault for being so distracted that I left it behind. Oh well... it just been a week of crazy off the wall things happening... (we chalk it up to the devil trying hard to discourage us, when we are on such a high and things are going so well!)
The list could go on... but I don't want to focus on the bad! Too much good is going on and we are having so much fun with this amazing group from Oklahoma, that it overshadows anything else that could possibly go wrong!
Today was Day #5 Saturday in Marangu I don't have a count from everyone on the total studies yet, but I know that 2 more were baptized down in the river this afternoon and tomorrow the Lord's Church is going to meet for the
very first worship service in the Marangu Mwika area. If you want to be praying for this special occasion, during the hour that we are gathering together it will be 3:00 here, and 7:00AM in the central time zone there on Sunday morning. We would love for you to join us in thoughts and prayer.
Hopefully I will be able to gather up some pictures from everyone else from Day 4, and if I do I'll post them here later. Hope you are having an amazing week! ~ The Richardson Family
