Geo: -25.4498, 31.9633 Did another early morning drive on the S28 and got to see elephant, zebra, kudu and wildebeest and two rhino. While on the S28, did have some other nice sightings as well as a safari driver doing something inappropriate. There was a very large elephant very close to the road and people were stopped to let it make its decision as to what it was going to do. The safari driver came up very close to the elephant and gunned his engine. The elephant trumpeted his displeasure, flapped his ears and made a step forward before moving off. Not cool at all, and things could have gone wrong in a hurry. Were heading back to Lower Sabie when there was a jam and we finally got where we could see what was there in ... read more

Geo: -25.4498, 31.9633Heading from Pretorioskop to Skukuza. We have a hut so do not have to race to get a good campsite in the early morning. Got to see a baby rhino with its mother which is always something very nice to see. We also saw elephants in the river crossing. School holidays are in full swing and so there are more day visitors and this slows traffic down but we manage, no problem! Driving the Phabeni road and get to the place where we have seen the leopard in the gully for the past two years and were certain the leopard was there because there was quite a jam. Took us awhile but we finally got into position and could see the leopard crouched up against the tree. Then the excitement began. There were some zebra ... read more

Geo: -25.4498, 31.9633Drove down to check on the Phabeni leopard as we call it and did not see it and were thinking about driving off when all of a sudden across the road, there it was. Finally the leopard must have come through the gully and appeared on the side where we usually see it. Had a stick in its mouth and was playing with it much like a young animal then moved up the tree and appeared to be trying to get to a warm spot and then wandered off. We were able to see most of this by ourselves. On the way to Pretorioskop saw a male and female lion and two leopards before checking in and washing clothes. Pretorioskop has a very nice laundry facility with lots of space to hang your clothes out ... read more

Geo: -25.4498, 31.9633Drove the S28 in hopes of finding the cheetah mother and cubs that have been seen on this road. There was information in Kruger Sightings that gave the number of km from the north or the south entrance of the road. We tried both directions and ran into people that had seen the cheetah that morning....................but had disappeared from sight. We did have a wonderful sighting as we were leaving the S28. There were impala stotting. Now what is that? Behavior where the impala lifts all four feet off the ground at once and in this case they kicked the back feet higher in the air before they landed. One after another, the females did this, sometimes several of them at once in a line. It was so nice to watch. Looked up stotting in ... read more

Geo: -25.4498, 31.9633Today we leave the park and spend the night at the Kruger Inn on the edge of the park. Got out the gate early and decided to check out Lake Panic Hide one last time. The weavers and herons were really making a racket. The weavers were moving in and out of their nests chattering as they went about their business. The young herons in their nest were busy fighting with each other and cutting up as well. Sat and enjoyed them and the rest of the early morning sounds at the hide.Left the hide and were heading down to check out things near Transport dam when we saw a car pulled over and the driver was making hand signals to slow down and be quiet. Started looking and there was a leopard in the ... read more
