With the weather so hot anyone would feel like a swim, so I decided to go scuba diving and no I didnt go all the way to Durban or Cape Town I did it right here in Gauteng, just outside Johannesburg near Magalisberg. The water was beautiful and clean giving you amazing vision under water. As we swam further down you come across an aeroplane and bus that we couldnt help but go in to take amazing pictures. After the scuba diving at the Miracle Waters my cousins and I rented out a chalet and had a awesome braai, we are South African like that. Now this was an amazing experience.... read more

I've always wanted to do something extreme for my birthday to get my adrenalin pumping like crazy and with just R360 I got that. My friends and I headed out to the Orlando Towers in Soweto for the power swing and OH MY GOSH, standing 100m above the ground looking over Soweto and the Orlando Dam was scary. With the thought of that power swing I was about to do I didnt hear a word of the safety procedures being told to me by the swing technician. There was no way I was going to turn back and lose a R100 bet with my friends. I did it and one day I'll go for more.... read more

Days 4-5 Yesterdaywe toured Soweto and the Apartheid Museum with our driver/guide, Anthony. Soweto has many faces from the grinding poverty of the shanty towns to government assisted new housing and apartments for those who can escape these terrible living conditions and lovely privately owned small homes and condos. We stopped at a new bungee jump facility created between two de-commissioned cooling towers, Soccer City where opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 World Cup were held. Then to the site of the June 76 Student March and Nelson Mandela Home. After lunch in that area, off to the Apartheid Museum for the afternoon.....all venues so well done...conveyed the sad events through amazing design and architecture....a sobering afternoon but well worth it. Drove home through an awesome torrential thunderstorm with lightning flashing and cars driving on the freeway ... read more

During school holidays my friends and I would have a girls day out and Gold Reef City is our favourite spot where we just feel like kids again, let go and have fun. Our most favourite rides have to be the Anaconda, Jozi Express, Tower of Terror, Golden Loop and Dream Boat. An hour before the Theme Park closes we go dine at Wimpy and after we go freshen up and continue our night at News Cafe in Gold Reef City Casino.... read more

Days 1-3 Wow! We are finally here! All flights left on time and after 20 hrs of flying with a short 2 hr stop in Amsterdam, we are here! KLM worked very well with great service, food and drink...best of all...no bumps for both flights and we are caught up on movies and tv shows. We were met at the airport by our driver for Safari Lodge about 15 mins from the airport. The lodge is locally owned, ranch style with lots of animals running around...very nice. Today was a chill day with napping, reading and organizing. Weather a bit overcast and coolish...very nice. Tomorrow Soweto/Apartheid tour...now off to dinner. Nice to be back in spring again! xxoo d&j... read more
