Puistosta löytyi... read more

I arrived at the border between Brasil and Argentina in the little town of Puerto Iguazu, named after those huge waterfalls. I have no pics of the falls because I visited them on a stormy day. It was amazing, you could see the falls getting bigger with the rain. And hardly any was left on th site at the end. Definitly worth it... After that I headed for the center of Bresil near the capital, in region of Goias.... read more

Today was our second morning in Puerto Iguazu and we were picked up early and whisked off to the Argentina / Brazil border. This journey took all of about 10 minutes. We had half-expected to see hordes of street kids astonishing us with their football skills as soon as we entered Brazil. In fact it turned out to be largely the same as Argentina, although all the signs were even less understandable - they speak Portuguese here rather than Spanish. The first thing we went to have a look at was the Iguazu Falls and they were quite amazing. The Brazilian side is best for appreciating all the falls together with a panoramic view of nothing but white crashing water. There is a gantry which takes you to the best viewing spot and it feels as ... read more

Well, I´m a bit behind with this blog but today has been an exciting day. We arrived into Foz de Iguassu on the night bus, so now we are in Brazil! I decided to be brave and take the helicopter ride over the falls. It was amazing! We had such a great view. We had a few scary moments when the pilot was doing some fancy flying. Claire, Sarah and I were very noisy huddled in the back! Sarah in the front was much braver. After the flight we headed to the Iguassu national park, where we went for a walk around the brazilian side of the falls. The views are absolutely stunning. There are so many different waterfalls. It is very, very hot here so we were all glad to get a cold drink at ... read more

Had a fab day tho - wenting rappling over iguassu falls and met these two guys who are oil traders and our age - ( wink wink ). Ok - as I prolongue very thing - here is a sumarised version of the past few days: As soon as Parit and Jamil got here - we went to watch a football match and then went to Favella party which ended at 4 in the morning and we then took a coach straight to Ilha Grande ( Island ... read more

Holy Moly What has happened since we last spoke you ask heaps!!!!!!!!!!!! To start with when we where leaving our hotel in Montevideo a lady on our tour decided that this was a good time to just run off and leave the tour without telling anybody. There was a real disbelief within the group, firstly because she didnt tell anyone and just left without a guide book or any maps and also because she didnt speak any spanish!! We left Montevideo on a 6 hour bus trip to Salto this turned out to be very boring as Uruguay loves to farm animals and basically nothing else. Although eucaplyptus tree plantations seem to be very popular- our own bit of Australia in Uruguay........ Salto was a great little town but the highlight was the thermal baths, these ... read more

O.k. so before I begin to tell you about Iguaçu falls I have something to admit. Before I arrived in South America I had never even heard of Iguaçu falls but am really ashamed as they are the biggest waterfall in the World. In fact the comment in a lot of the guide books is they make Niagra look like a tipple. The falls cross over 3 countries into Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay and actually compose of over 250 separate falls. The surrounding area is subtropical forest which is packed with exotic birds and wildlife. I must say they are pretty spectacular with the Brazilian side showing panoramic views but the Argentinean side showing the shear ferocity of the falls. ... read more

We were all very excited about the last stint of our trip with Roger and Amber in tow. It promised to be a good conclusion. We visited the Iguazu Falls. These are a huge set of waterfalls (275 individual falls in all!) that sit on the Brazil / Argentina border. All this with the Atlantic Rainforest for a back drop. There is an ongoing competition over which side of the falls is best with Argentina taking the majority (75%) of the falls but Brazil being able to claim more panoramic views. On arrival in Foz de Iguazu, to save confusion we allowed our driver from Bonito to drop us off at the Bambu Hostel, even though we were staying at the ´new´ sister Bambu 2. As it turned out, it wasnt that close and new was ... read more
