After a long bus journey of about 16 hours we arrived in foz to see the iguazu falls. Theres two sides of the falls the brazilian and the argentinian sides. We spent the 1st day at the brazilian side where we went on a speed boat down the rapids. please note this is a wet ride, got absoulutly soaked as they dunk you under the waterfall itself, was cool speeding up and down the rapids, was funnier to wath the japenese tourist with their ponchos on trying to stay dry....no chance! On the 2nd day we visited the Argentinian side with shaun and rianah, 2 girls from england and diedrik the flying dutchman. The falls were amazing from the argentinain side as you could get close up. It took us all day walking (8 hours) round ... read more

Hello all! Wonders will never cease and thanks to Mike Essex I´ve only gone and managed to set up a real honest to goodness Blog to give me a forum to bore you with and probably rant on. If you´re reading this then you are probably very bored at work so I´ll try not to rub it in too much that I´m not. Well Rio turned out to be a bit of a washout as I think I´ve already moaned about and so we´ve left the coast and set off inland. The place is enormous and the main mode of getting from A to B is on coaches for days on end. We had our first all dayer from Paraty to Foz de Igauzu. Always interesting boarding a bus when you´re not entirely sure where to ... read more

This entry will be very picture-driven for two reasons: the first being that I have taken LOADS of pictures over the last few days and have not uploaded any of them for you to see; and the second reason being that I have just spent 15 hours on a bus and am not feeling particularly inspired to write. So without further ado I will give you the run-down of what I´ve been up to since I last updated: My final couple of days in Sao Paulo were great fun - I went to a very cool samba club and listened to some brilliant live samba. I also tried to dance, but realised rather quickly that I am not as good at samba as I am at salsa and merengue. It is really hard! But at least ... read more

I´m on the bus to Foz Do Iguacu in Brazil by 7.30 am. I love the fact that border towns have roadsigns pointing to entire countries - ´Left - Town Centre. Right - Bus Terminal. Straight on - Brazil´. At the Argentine border I am stamped out, and that appears to be it. We cross the bridge over the Rio Iguazu, and I get a tingle of happiness as we reach the other side. Brazil. Country no.19. Immigration formalities are relaxed when it comes to people making the day trip to see the falls. Indeed, on the Brazilian side I am required merely to exit the bus, and wipe my feet on a doormat, before reboarding and continuing on my way. At least they have high standards of cleanliness. Like a fool, I´d assumed that ... read more

Another overnight bus journey from Curitiba took us to Foz do Iguacu at 7am, for our visit to one of the seven wonders of the world. Iguacu Falls is stituated on the tri borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. We stayed on the Brazil side of the falls in Hostel International which was well located and much better than Curitiba! After arriving and having breakfast we got chatting to a Belgian guy who was checking out. He told us that the Brazilian side was a lot smaller than the Argentinian side and that a few hours would cover it but to spend the whole day at the Argentinian side. In the afternoon we headed the 12km out of town to the national park and viewed the waterfalls. Overall there are 275 individual falls but the major ... read more

Iguazu falls. Another UNESCO world heritage site. We went to both the Argentinian and Brazillian sides of the falls. Quick stats - higher than Niagra falls and wider than Victoria falls. As for Brazil - other than being half the area of south america it also has borders with every other country in South America, other than Ecuador and Chile. The Argentinian side gives the magnified view and then the Brazil side is an overall picture. It was still pretty amazing, although the water levels are as low as they have ever been. You can see where the waterfalls should have been, but the levels were so low in places there were pools of stagnent water. Hopefully they will get more rain soon. It still looked amazing. Set in the midst of jungle with Tucans and ... read more

Ta begge disse ... read more

So after the Wildlife feast that was the Jungle & Pantanal it was now water week!!! Firstly a visit to Bonito and then onto Foz Do Iguacu.... Bonito (spanish for beautiful) is a sleepy little place that lives and breaths its tourist attractions, these are the crystal clear waterways that are just teaming with fish and 72m underground lake for divers (not me!! yet!!)... Only planning to spend one whole day here (2 nights) i booked my trip striaght away... It was for a 4 hour snorkel trip down the river!!! now this to me sounded like a long time! and in the back of my mind i didn't know if i could swim for 4 hours!!!! but after the 1 hour bus trip to the place it all soon became clear!!! Crystal Clear!!! It was ... read more
