Ho Chi Minh City...still known as Saigon to some locals, what a crazy place to arrive! luckily i had been told about the motorbikes and traffic but i did face a huge dilema when trying to cross the road on my own with a huge rucksack on my back! There are more than 3 million motorbikes! Literally bikes coming from every direction.. i had been instructed that you just have to walk out onto the road, to make no sudden movements and the bikes go around you! Easier said than done!! Anyway i just had to more or less close my eyes and go for it! Sure enough they did all go around me! Luckily i spotted the shrimps ( nick name for jackie and wayne and all of us when we get together although i ... read more

Rodeo Weekend ! Set off for a weekend camping at the Derby Rodeo , we didnt have tents as all Australians seem to own a swag, i think they must be given them at birth because everyone seems to have one, its a matress with pillows and duvet with a canvas cover which you just roll out on the ground. The name "Swag" came from when men used to wonder the streets looking for work with a blanket and a billy (pot to boil water) on their back. We made our own swags, quite skillfully! Had a fantastic weekend watching all the events, seeing cowboys getting thrown off bulls and horses and the rodeo clowns running around! A bull jumped the fence and went charging through the crowd! All action packed! Branding and Castrating horse! ... read more

The kimberley..North Western Australia, going to work in a very remote rugged area full of cows and bulls cowboys and cowgirls! The nearest town an hour away....not completely sure how we were gonna cope! It is Bunuba land in the southern part of the Kimberley region where we are which stretches from the town Fitzroy Crossing to the King Leopold Ranges. Bunuba lands include the Napier and Oscar Ranges. Ned McCord , the manager of the cattlestation, picked us up in Broome airport and filled us in on the 4 hour drive to King Leopold Downs. Its an aboriginal owned station of a million acas on aboriginal land where the Bunaba communities and other tibes live. He gave us a brief insight on life on and around the cattlestation and the rest was left for us ... read more

On the road again ..... after a brillaint boat trip we set off towards Magnetic Island which is a really chilled out place with a few little beach villages, its surrounding waters are part of the Great Barrier Reef. Captain Cook named it Magnetic Island after his compass went perculiar as he sailed by! We managed to get a hostel after many phone calls a peaceful little area, hardly anyone about at all it was bliss! We met up with some friends and all went out for the night to a party on the beach with a full moon gleaming! Next few days were spent relaxing on a deserted beach ( not so relaxing finding the beach! ) It was meant to be a short walk but as usual we took a wrong turn.. found ... read more

More like sailing the WETsundays! Again we were not lucky with the weather but we still had a fantastic time! Quite a lot of the goups who did Fraser Island continued up to Airlie beach to do the sailing trip. It wasnt really a sailing trip, more like a boat party! Had loads of fun, i know that sailers like their alcohol so there were loads of drinks on board, the irish turned up in funny hats and the the entire trip was very entertaining! Had to borrow the host jacket nearly blinding a few people! The first day we sailed over to the Island where we would be staying, form a distance it just looked like rainforrest but as we neared it became like a resort. We were showed to our rooms then met ... read more

Fraser island is the biggest sand island in the world, its just an island full of sand, rainforrests and lakes, no swimming in the sea aloud as man eating sharks flipping around! The tour was based around 4 - wheel driving around the island, 9 in a group, the best bit was racing up and down the dirt tracks with everyone screaming in the back for you to slow down! we were given a shed- of-a -van! the doors were nearly hanging off at one point and it broke down just 10 minutes from returning back! It lasted the 3 days though so it did us proud! There was 9 in our goup : me , kate, carl, kelly and dave, we then met Jock and Matt both from Grassington! and tom and Lucy. 4 ... read more

After a long bus journey we made our way to bondi beach where Jade lives, i was expecting this place to be amazing after all the hype i heard but was a bit dissapointed as it didnt seem that great and the heavens had opened! We had a look around, attempted to do the bondi to coogee cliff top walk but went the wrong way ending up in the rain in the suburbs! Not a great day! Cheered ourselves up by meeting up with the Irish gang we'd met in Peru for some drinks, this is how we ended up moving to Coogee. We instanly felt happier in Coogee, there is a lot more charactor in my opinion with a friendlier buz about the place so we moved over in a few days. Surfside hostel ... read more

Australia turned out to be better than expected, i had got over the shock that everything is more expensive and nothing is backwards like it is in South America so was quite looking forward to the next couple of months. Our first stop was Melbourne, we stayed in a little suburb called St. Kilda which looked a bit like blackpool beach but we settled in nicely here. We spent the next month looking around the city and exploring the trendy suburbs with loads of art galleries, vintage shops, food and wine festivals, music festivals and all sorts. The city itself is rather artistic with loads of cultural events and of course the Grand Prix! Second time in one year! We were luck although we were made use of this time! Handing out magazines but we ... read more

New Zealand, quite a culture difference to South America but felt like the perfect place to THROW MYSELF OUT OF A PLANE 12,000 FT IN THE SKY!!!!!!! TUESDAY 27th February.....day of doom............the day we were'nt alowed mention untill our feet were firmly on the ground!! So we arrived in Queenstown on the south island and booked a 12, 000 ft skydive for 9.30 the next day. then the subject was banned. As far as we were concerned we werent actually doing it. So after a sleepless night..not sure why???? we headed off and were all kitted out in our suits with faces of terror all around me and a few nervous giggles! Actually i thought we were all right but i think my face was telling a different story! Up in the plane which was a ... read more
