Miegam po vakar vakarėlio ilgai, bet aš atsikeliu pirmas. Papusryčiaujam su prancūzais ir keliaujam į miestą. Šiandien būtų gerai nusipirkti ekskursiją į "mirties kelią". Einam į centrą, ten prancūzai puola ieškoti ir pirkti suvenyrų. Šiek tiek pasitrainioju su jais, bet greit atsibosta. Susitinku su Maysa, tad kol jie apsipirkinėja, mes einam pasivaikščioti po senamiestį. Čia surandu gražiausią miesto gatvelę. Po pasivaikščiojimo susitinkam vėl su prancūzais ir einam į toj gražiojoj gatvelėj esantį barą. Užsisakom visi po koktailį, bet neivienas nesužavėtas barmenės sugebėjimais. Po kokteilių prancūzai keliauja namo, o aš su Maysa keliaujam į kitą barą kur susitinkam prancūzų porelę su mergaite kurie apsistoję pas Maysa namuose. Our first bus ride was 2 things: 1. Luxurious and 2. Not in our budget range - in result take away reclining chairs, hosteses and built in entertainment ($70 for 22 Hours) and insert the Local Bus - still comfy enough more like a run down school camp bus, no toilet and I guess how you look at it - no built in entertainment but I was definately more entertained for the 8 hours on this ride than the other! all for the expensive cost of: $4.00 each. Very much more in our budget! 21/03 to 24/03/13 - La Paz: The highest Capital in the world ! at 3660 m above sea level and it always goes up ! We did one of the scariest bike ride. We bike through the most dangerous road in the world and we survived ! The landscape is great and the experience is great. We started at Cumbre and went down the main road for 1 hour (Marie was the last one , as she was scared of the speed !). Then started a 2 hour ride on a rocky road between the edge and the mountain, so no escape, if you go too quickly it's either scratching yourself in the mountain or getting over the edge. Our Lady of the Peace. What a name for a city, there must have been a lot of fighting going on around when the city was named.We reached Nuestra Senora La Paz just before sunrise. As the city is built inside almost a canyon when you approch the city you are astonished with the low central area, with their cluster of lightings, and the city climbing, spreading on to hills surrounding, the street lights thinning as they move away and up into the hills. We were coming from the top flatlands winding our way down into the city center.The bus ride from Uyuni to La Paz was another 11hour trip. Butch Cassidy: Kid, the next time I say, "Let's go someplace like Bolivia," let's GO someplace like Bolivia. Copacabana After an uneventful bus ride along the banks of Lake Titicaca, and after paying $135 each to cross Bolivia's borders we arrived in the "resort" town of Copacabana. After locating our hostel we quickly turned on the television to watch The Rose Bowl. We spent that evening not only annoyed by the Badgers performance, but also with each other's incessant renditions of Barry Manilow's catchy lyrics. Our next day was spent touring Isla del Sol, the legendary Inca creation site and the birthplace of the sun in Inca mythology, namely the mystical appearance of Manco Capac and his sister-wife Mama Ocllo. Friday 01/02/13 – Another day with a border crossing meant another day with an early start. We rode out of Puno and followed the southern shores of Lake Titicaca. Often we passed women or boys wearing thongs while herding goats or llamas along the lakes edge where the small snow drifts and ice still clung to clumps of grass and bushes. We approached the Desaguadero border and were pulled over at a police checkpoint where the cops got all excited by my secret storage tube which they must have imagined was stacked with drugs. I was relieved while they were disappointed when we all discovered that electrical tape and string was not contraband in either Peru or Bolivia… In a word this border was dynamic (in more words: chaotic, dirty, frustrating, confused, hectic…).
