So what do you do if your an under paid teacher looking for better conditions? Obvious isn't it, you set up a road block on the only road into town and don't let anyone pass including foot traffic. Well thats what happens in Argentina as we have found out. We arrived at Puerto Iguazu airport yesterday to find out we could not get a taxi into town to our hotel and so took the only option which was to head straight to the falls and leave our backpack in lockers. As it turned out chance gave us this great oppertunity and instead of wasting time in town we were able to explore the falls with less crowds and plenty of time. Wow what an amazing sight this is!! If your were ever to imagine falling from ... read more

I have REALLY been slacking on my blog, but I guess it gives you time to catch up on your reading! Although no new blogs recently, I have been doing a ton; going out at night, getting used to my classes, loving the differences between UCA and UBA, and hangin out with my mom! This is being written from the balcony of my apartment that I grow to love more and more every day. My mom and Sharon have been in Argentina for a while now and we had an incredible time all last week in the Province of Misiones in Northern Argentina where the incredible Iguazu Waterfalls are. Believe it or not, we actually had the same kind of adventures that made the first part of my trip so memorable. I had a great time ... read more

I am currently in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina, after a long bus ride from Rio de Janerio, Brazil. I arrived in the afternoon two days ago and checked into a gigantic hostel with a huge swimming pool and a travel agency and everything a traveler could need. It's a nice place, but I prefer smaller hostels usually. I spent all day yesterday at the falls, which was tons of fun, even though it rained the entire day. Today I was going to go to the Brazilian side, but there was no more room on the bus and I have a lot of errands to run as well, so I decided to just stay in town today. I will read by the pool and take a siesta maybe when I get back to the hostel. Right when we ... read more

We had a few fun filled non stop action packed crazy days in Buenos Aires. We'd barely landed there and we found ourselves in a transit van winding through the downdown streets of this hugemungous and exciting city. We arrived at our destination and were ushered into a building and up some stairs into a studio, ready to learn some new skills, we were ready to learn Tango! The lesson was great fun but we'd probably need a few more goes before we join the Halifax Tango display team... After our lesson we were seated for a steak and 'drink as much vino as you can' dinner before our Tango show started. In truth we weren't expecting that much of the Tango show - we thought it would just be a bit of cheesy 'for the ... read more

Hooray We´re off on an Adventure!! here we are in the tiny little city of puerto iguazu. The town is small, with an itty bitty night life... but charming none the less. I am just guessing, but from what we´ve seen probably 75% of the transportation that the people here use is motor bike, moped, or scooter! It´s a little scary, with the job that I have, to see how many of these people do not use helmets! And the ones I have noted, I haven´t recognized any of the brands. The buses seem pretty safe, and when you take one from metro centro, you are just as likely to get a coach with comfy reclining, fake leather seats, as one that feels like it´s barely going to make it to the end of the road. ... read more

So next morning i got up and decided id save some cash for Buneos Aires and as paraguy was not spectacular unles you heded north to the jungle i decided to skip the expense of just going for another passport stamp...lol, again it was up for a great brekkie and then i decided as it was so hot to do some hand washing and save a few pesos. So i did that and then hung out by the wonderful hostelpool chatting to the dutch girl mieke before she headed off in the afternoon for a bus to Buneos Aires (14 hours and thank god i have a flight...lol) and speaking to a french girl emaunelle who had been in town a few days and had swapped to our hostel, eventually Mieke went and i just hung ... read more

Having got back from Uruguay in the afternoon on Monday we went to the bus station to get our bus up to Iguazu Falls. The Brazilian bus company didn't exactly put on their most luxurious coach for us - it was pretty much like a National Express coach with a foot rest thrown in as well as some very appetising food. About an hour into the journey we had our appetising 'dinner service' which was 2 cold and greasy empanadas and a breaded filet of some kind and a can of 7-up which I didn't really even want to drink because i could already smell the toilet after only one hour of driving (later when forced to go, the sink in the toilet had dried vomit on it and lets just say the state of the ... read more

FREBRUARY 19, 2008 - My birthday, my 41st birthday, and I went to Iguazu Falls - Cataratas del Iguazu! A place I've wanted to see for 4 years and it was well worth the wait. What a way to spend my birthday. Note: For those of you reading this that had no idea of my age…SURPRISE! It surprises me everyday, why should I be alone! I plan to be this young at heart forever while being proud of being in my wonderful 40’s. I must admit I was getting a little pre-occupied with what I thought a 40 year old was suppose to be...mature, responsible, together, spouse, children, etc, or better yet 'not be'...fun, lively, unsure, single, still love to dance and go out, be silly, etc, but this is just another one of those major ... read more

Well, we finally wrapped up in Bariloche. Our last weekend involved our Saturday blogging to you all, and then on Sunday, we took a little stroll to the Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi, beside Lago Guttereiz, our local lake and took a walk to see the little waterfalls that were in there. We had thought about hiking up to Refugio frey that Sunday with Peter, a guy from the Netherlands from our school who was looking for company. However, the trek was supposed to be about 16km, so 32 km return from our Cabaña, and I wasnt sure whether I was fit enough for it. We had a look that Sunday though at the start of the hike, and decided that on the Monday we would do a timed walk up the trek, and turn when we ... read more
