We arrived in the town of Puerto Iguazu (there is no port) and decided to stay a while as there was much to see - mostly of the nature reserves and waterfalls. The first day we explored the little town, which surprisingly did not feel touristy despite existing mostly for that reason. In the afternoon Henry bought an Argentinian football shirt and when leaving the shop we bumped into Toke and Line, the Danish couple. We all had a delicious tropical fresh fruit drink together and caught up with a few stories to tell. That evening we went to a newly opened restaurant and stuffed ourselves with pizza starters, massive steaks and a bottle of wine. We were again treated with a free bottle of champagne at the end of the meal! The following day we ... read more

Flew from Rio to Iguazu Falls via Sao Paolo on Saturday morning with TAM. Stopover in Sao Paolo was better than the last one - no delay this time and we could even get off the plane and have a walk around the airport (not that there was much to see). After take off from Sao Paolo you realise the sheer vastness of one of the worlds largest cities. We must have taken upto 20 minutes to hit any countryside. Football grounds, racetracks, motor racing circuits, parks, lakes, swimming pooled mansions, slums, mile after mile of skyscrapers - great timing on my part to win todays installment of “Who’s Having the Window Seat?” We’d never really spoken about visiting Sao Paolo but were now considering a couple of nights there. But, could we get anything like ... read more

This will be a quick story, because i think the pictures tell it all! I went up to Puerto Iguazu from BA for a few days to see the world famous, soooo amazing, Iguazu Falls! I stayed at a super fun hostel that had a lot of fun people, a pool, and a foos table! Nice! They even had a barbeque and a brazilian feather lady dance party one night! Awesome! I went to the falls with my roommate John from Canada and we spent and ENTIRE DAY walking around this national park taking pictures and getting soaking wet! WE started with a short walk down to the upper falls viewing area and everything we saw were we like, woooowowowo this is unbelievable! Next we took a miniature train to the Devils Throat. Iguazu Falls is an amazing place in the world; we would both put it on the list of our highlights so far, it is truly beautiful. The falls lie on the border of Argentina and Brazil so we spent 2 nights on the Argentinian side and then 1 on the Brazilian side. It has to be said that the Argentinian side is probably the best but they both have very different view points. On the Argentinian side we started by walking on the lower walkway, looking at the falls from above. As soon as they came into sight we kept stopping on every corner to take a photo! The width of the falls is so amazing and the amount of water plummeting to the bottom makes such a noise, followed by a huge mist that you ... read more

Hello friends! Its been a few days since Ive updated, we have seen and experienced many wonderful and beautiful things. We arrived today in Puerto Iguazu home of the famous Iguazu Falls, and are planning on spending all day tommorrow there. We are also hoping to get our Brazilian visas tommorrow so we can travel to Rio, we were unsuccessful in BsAs. So, after we left BsAs we went to The National Park of Palms, it was amazing. Basically it was a palm tree forest. Rachel and I agreed that we felt like we were watching a movie the whole time because it seemed so unreal. There are huge palm trees there, as far as your eyes can see. We camped there 2 nights and had the chance to meet a few Argentines, chill with them ... read more

greetings from senorita raquel :) we are tired, sweaty, and burnt from all the travelling, hot sun, and walking with 40 pounds of gear through the streets of Argentina. I´m still adjusting to everything around me, I´m not sure if I will ever get adjusted as I am continously experiencing something new and different. It makes the trip all the more wild and crazy... just a few things to add to becky´s entry.... in yapayu we met an incredible artist who showed us the abandoned riverbanks of rio uruguay. through the dirt, roots, and old trees, we sifted through old remnants of the Guarani culture.....pots, plates, cups. To touch a 500 year culture that has been abandoned and forgotten in so many ways was an incredible and thrilling thing, with the fresh new soil caked on ... read more

We decided to take a bus journey from Buenos Aires to the Argentinian side of Iguaza falls in order to save some much needed money. The bus was supposed to take 16 hours, however, it took a little longer due to the bus breaking down a few times a long the way- lovely!! Two English guys Matt and Tom that we had met in Buenos Aires travelled with us, though they couldn't stay in our hostel as it was fully booked. Our hostel was very strange, we were located in a little shed to the side of the main building, here there was no hot water and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. Added to this was the fact that we were on the bottom floor and our room had no door so whenever anybody came in/out, ... read more

Well, thanks for all your patience with getting our blogs posted as well as PICTURES!! It's been a bit more complicated than expected, as everything usually doesn't work out as planned---really. We made it back safely to Buenos Aires after returning from El Calafate and Torres del Paine park. First thing on the agenda was to quickly repack and get to the nearest DHL office so we could ship our backpacks and camping gear back to AK. Let me tell you, this was quite an experience! Again, the young gal didn't speak nearly any English and we needed to get our bags to AK safely!! What trust. We spent nearly an hour figuring it all out with her and leaving our bags with her to send. Since we were shipping internationally, she needed to look at ... read more
