At the airport...In the airport, which was almost empty, weīre waiting for our plain to go to Iguazu.
Hooray Weīre off on an Adventure!!
here we are in the tiny little city of puerto iguazu. The town is small, with an itty bitty night life... but charming none the less. I am just guessing, but from what weīve seen probably 75% of the transportation that the people here use is motor bike, moped, or scooter! Itīs a little scary, with the job that I have, to see how many of these people do not use helmets! And the ones I have noted, I havenīt recognized any of the brands.
The buses seem pretty safe, and when you take one from metro centro, you are just as likely to get a coach with comfy reclining, fake leather seats, as one that feels like itīs barely going to make it to the end of the road. And so far weīve been on both!
We met up with Maitreyi on Wed afternoon, and checked into our hostel/Inn. The place is nice, but the toilet doesnīt flush quite right, and the pool is tiny! but itīs clean and safe, and the staff is really nice! Oh, and Steve booked this place for us... so we
really canīt complain! THANK YOU
Garganta el DiabloThis it it!!! Just to the left of The Devilīs Throat! ...Thatīs Brazil over yonder, on the other side of the river.
STEVE!!! After checking in we trekked around the city, checking out the neat little tourist trap shops. There is a crazy intersection here, called
7 Corners. This intersection has no traffic signs of any kind, and litterally is the place where 7 streets converge!! Pretty crazy!!
Heading into the Jungle
We went to the Iguazu National Parkon Thursday and Friday. We checked out what they call the Devilīs Throuat, and also the Isla San Martin, which is in the middle of the river, with a bunch of waterfalls on either side. The place is AMAZING!!! During our first hike in the rain forest we saw some monkeyīs, and it just got better from there. We saw more monkeys, tucans, some racoon relatives, some other cool native birds, and some awesome butterflys. On Friday we went on a tour that took us out through the jungle, and then up the river on a boat to the base of the waterfalls. We took a couple of really cool pictures (which weīll up load later) and then the boat went up under 2 of the waterfalls!!!! This is something that we would never be able to experience in the States!! So we
Garganta el DiabloThis is IT!! the Devilīs Throat!! Here weīre looking at the heart of it!!
went ahead and bought the dvd they were selling of this experience, since it was so crazy.
Weīre headed back to BA tomorrow (Sat. the 29th), and weīll be sure to update the Blog with some of the crazy adventure we have. Maya and I both send our love to those at home, and we miss you all.
Congrats to Daniel on getting the job at Bell, Iīm looking forward to working with you!
