Homma on jatkunut samaa rataa kuin mihin viimeksi jaatiin, eli pihvi ja viini on maistunut, ja eri kulkuneuvoissa on taas tullut istuttua. Pihvia on itse asiassa tullut purtua sen verran, etta molemmilla on tullut yksi hammas kipeaksi ja ikenia kutittaa ihan vietavasti! Tallaisia matkavaivoja talla kertaa... Ehka sitten Buenos Airesissa. Ai niin, Argentiinan jätskiskene on yllatta... read more

Hola Chicos y Chicas! I am writing this nearly a week after spending 2 nights in Puerto Iguazú...apologies for the lateness of this update, it has been a very busy week! So last Monday I left Rosario, which I was completely ready to do! Although my last day was great, I went to the beach with 2 Danish girls I met in my hostel but could not quite bring myself to swim in the river! After Agustina (really lovely girl on reception at my Rosario hostel) said she had lived in Rosario for her whole life and never once swam in the river because it looks so dirty, that put me off a little bit, but I thought I would see what the water looked like, being of the opinion that you need to make your ... read more

- Brasilian puolella sanottiin, ettei sinne ainakaan saa mennä. - Niin, te tarkoitatte ryöstöjä ja päällekarkauksia. Ei tällä puolella sellaista tapahdu. Tämä on pieni paikka. Pieni paikka ja suuri paikka. Viihdyn selvästikin paremmin pienissä paikoissa. Jopa Iguazún putoukset ovat Argentiinan puolella palj... read more

The bus has deluxe seats, wide and comfy with an amazing range of recline. Defiinitely worth the extra fare. What you can't pay extra for are considerate passengers. The couple in front of us felt the need to fully recline for every single minute of the 14 hour journey less perhaps 10 minutes. Even during the stops when they were not in their seats. Their position wedged Keith and I into our seats which meant a creative McGyver like escape when we wanted to get off the bus or use the toilet. Discussion with the couple was futile due to their self imposed entitlement with the purchase of their ticket. We still managed to get some sleep and be relatively alert leaving the bus and the bus station. Envisioning a simple bridge and walk across the ... read more

I´ve got to hang around until 6 tonight to catch a night bus to central Brazil (Campo Grande), so I thought would give a quick update on what I have been up to. Buenos Aires After the Marathon I hung around BA for a few more nigths and basically ate Steak and drunk Quilmes (Argy beer). Also meet a cool ozzie called Anne who is moving to the mighty Clapham Junction to live for a couple of years if it all goes to plan. After 2 weeks in BA it was time to move on. I was meant to catch the bus on Friday night, but being the complete the idiot that I am, I managed to miss my bus. It had nothing to do with me being late, just a lack of common sense and ... read more

Sooo after a less than magical 26 hr bus trip from Rio DJ to Puerto Iguazu that included; a changeover in Foz Iguazu, freezing cabin temperatures, bus companions with less than amicable gastronomy and an unexplained 1.5hr stop over in the middle of nowhere at 3am with all lights in the cabin on. Cata was later able to confirm from the heated conversation outside of the bus taking place in Portuguese and Spanish that our faithful drivers had apparently answered a 'Booty Call', we arrived two weary travelers keen to check into a hostel and begin our Puerto Iguazu travels Peter Pan Hostel Indeed the title of this blog was a reference to the fictional story of Peter Pan and the name of our not so fictional hostel. Against our better judgment we decided to stay ... read more

Though not quite the end of our trip yet, there was one last place on our must-see list before leaving this incredible country. However, getting there would involve another long distance journey on another bus (this one would take 17 hours). So, with the scars of our recent experience getting to El Calafate still fresh in our minds (see blog entry ), we decided to make it as painless as possible by treating ourselves to a pair of Cama Suite bus tickets. The bus left Buenos Aires shortly after 7pm on Monday evening and as we rolled north, we enjoyed all the comforts of 1st class bus travel. Our seats were fully reclining (to 180 degrees), we had our own personal DVD screen and we enjoyed canapes before dinner, wine with dinner and champagne after dinner. ... read more

After leaving Salta we arrived 23 hours later in Iguazu Falls. Larger than Niagra and situated on the Argentina/Brazil border. It was spectacular. As we woke late and didn't arrive at the falls until lunch time we were worried about getting around the whole thing, so headed to the main attraction first, the Devils Throat. We couldn't believe ours eyes! Just so so much water! Actually made you quite dizzy to look at. There are over 200 falls in total and about 10 lookout points. The buzz of seeing the amazing power of these things coupled with the relief of being able to actually breath probably again (no altitude) we power-walked around the whole site and managed to get to them all, took lots of photos and even had time for the nautical adventurer boat trip. ... read more

Having finally made it out of Buenos Aires we arrived at the little town of Puerto Iguazu having taken the famous 'ejecutivo' overnight bus. And very nice it was too with comfy seats, champagne and wine served - the only shocker was the 2 hour long 80s music compilation video which they played. However after a few bevvies we were soon singing along. Puerto Iguazu itself is pleasant enough and is located very close to the famous Iguazu Falls. We had been recommended the Hostelling International, which was out of town - but as it was too cold to use the swimming pool so the extra cost seemed pointless. Instead we stayed at the lovely Puerto Canoas. The little hostel was nicely set around a courtyard with hummingbirds and hammocks; you could tell that you're close ... read more

There is room for us at the Bambu hostel so we stayed, nice hostel fairly new, Natalia the receptionist is superb host, very accomodating in every way, the room is nice though small the beds are so comfy wide and thick, and there are blankets because it can get cold here. We looked for dinner, went to a recommended restaurant called. Excited, we got ready for the trip to the Iguassu falls, we took a bus from the terminal, lots of tourists as expected even if it cold this time of the year. Took around 20 minutes to get to the entrance, we paid 60 pesos about $15. Then walked towards the train station. Lots of kids today on a school trip, quite annoying, they run around everywhere. Our first stop was Estacion Garganta del Diablo, ... read more
