There is room for us at the Bambu hostel so we stayed, nice hostel fairly new, Natalia the receptionist is superb host, very accomodating in every way, the room is nice though small the beds are so comfy wide and thick, and there are blankets because it can get cold here. We looked for dinner, went to a recommended restaurant called.
Excited, we got ready for the trip to the Iguassu falls, we took a bus from the terminal, lots of tourists as expected even if it cold this time of the year. Took around 20 minutes to get to the entrance, we paid 60 pesos about $15. Then walked towards the train station. Lots of kids today on a school trip, quite annoying, they run around everywhere. Our first stop was Estacion Garganta del Diablo, we took 2 trains to get there and it is full, quite busy this park is. Walked to the platform took a good 10 minutes to get to the main viewpoint, fantastic scenery, now I can conclude that Iguassu is better than Victoria, in my opinion. Staying for 15 minutes then we walked back, we are trying to beat the kids to the train.
While waiting for the train to take us to the Cataratas station we had breakfast of empanadas at the small restaurant. We booked a tour with gran aventura from the hostel so we made our way to the meeting point, we took this safari ride which was crap, did not see a single animal inside but we saw a caiman in a muddy waterhole which the guide did not even see, anyway we got dropped off to where we can take the boat ride to go under the waterfalls, we were given dry bags to put our stuff in, I took my shirt off and only have my swimmers on, it was freezing cold and got colder as we sped towards the cataratas, shivering profusely i was relieved to have the sun shine on us for a bit while getting ready to go under the falls, while waiting Matt decided to take his shirt off as well, he needed to take off his life jacket, one of the boat guides told him off, he is not allowed to take off his jacket at anytime.
Shivering, we got soaked on the first waterfall then moved on to the bigger one
where we got under twice, people on the boat screaming, very cold but was good fun, thank god we got dropped off near the shore quickly so we can dry ourselves. matt ordered a DVD , there was a guy in full dry gear on filming us. Matt had good fun laughing at the Italian dudes on the boat who he thought were naked! turns out they have their budge smugglers swimmers on! ok i think the first cataratas we went under is the Tres Mosquiteros then the 2nd one was Salto San Martin just to the right of Isla San Martin. Then we went and followed the trail that took us to the top of different waterfalls, Bossetti, Dos Hermanas, Adan and Eva etc. then we are ready to go back to town after a quick lunch we headed to wait for the bus outside the park that runs every 30 minutes, The bus came and we all got on, we got to talking to a nice American girl on the bus, giving Matt tips about flying to Rio. Back in town we walked back to the hostel and chilled, and natalia has got all the info on bus
scheds for us, Nicko the annoying guset at the hostel who is Argentine but has lived in the US is doing his best to have an American accent, natalia is annoyed at him as well, arrogant and actually at first i thought he was the owner, he kept interrupting natalia on our 1st night there while she was showing us around the hostel facilities.
We bought malbec wine ordered a take out pizza then had dinner at the hostel, after finishing the wine i went to bed, the night receptionist whose name i cant recall is very good looking, she is quite cool, i love this hostel. Walked around the city for the last time, this town is quite small compared to Foz do iguassu, we walked until we have a view of Rio Iguassu then went back to the hostel, Matt left for Rio and I waited outside the hostel for the bus to the border to Argentina, took ages, the bus arrived and off we go and the Argentine border was easy, everyone queued up for immigracion and my backpack stayed at the bus then when everyone is on board we left for Brazil.
