As usual here in Belarus, the train left right on time, just before midnight the train started the 4 hour journey to Minsk, the night trip here are always sleepers, they did not give you a choice for just seats, which was fine, the ticket is so cheap anyway. We discovered we have the right side of the cabin, so one of us have to sleep on the upper deck, I volunteered. They provided you with pillow, mattress and blanket if you so chose to use it, but the bed/seat is cushioned already so I decided just grab a blanket and pass out. The problem is how to get up to my bed, there is only probably 3 feet of space between my bed and another bed on top of me, which is not used, I ... read more

After arriving from a day trip to Mir, we headed to the train station to check out the schedules, we are planning on doing day trips to a few cities just to explore. We were thinking Vitebsk and Brest and possibly Gomel as well. Looking at the huge board at the lobby, Mindas, who is fluent in Russian is a little bit confused so we decided, well he decided to ask the lady at the information counter, apparently she was rude and not happy to be helping him, it did not help that he came back maybe 4 times each time with a different time and schedule plans, we just could not make up our minds. Final planning means we have to be travelling 2 whole days going from East to West and transitting in Minsk ... read more

Woke up with the sun poking through a gap in the curtains of the dorm room, looks like it is going to be a nice day, Mindas and I got ready to start the day, we decided to visit the little town of Mir, where they have a castle sitting atop a small hill, we saw the fotos from a book in the hostel, looked nice. But then Andrew(the cuckoo) invited himself and his girlfriend! But at least he was the one who figured out the schedule and which bus to take etc, so we all got ready, the girlfriend Tania arrived on a taxi and we came down to meet her at the front of the hostel, but aside from Andrew, me and Mindas, Andrei from Gomel who is also staying in the hostel wants ... read more

Snow started to fall as I wait at Logan airport for my flight, luckily we left on time, 6 hours I was in cloudy Paris, still in a daze I followed directions towards my connecting flight and eventually ended up in a long queue of people at the Immigration,I got stamped in no time and off I go. I found the gate where AirBaltic is leaving from but it was delayed by half hour, I don't mind as I dozed off at the waiting area, eventually making it to Riga, grabbed my backpack, bought my fare to Bus #22 at a kiosk just before leaving the arrivals hall, soon as I got out I can feel the crisp Arctic air, it's about 15 F with wind chills, crap, I thought it's supposed to be spring already... ... read more

Got up early and said my goodbye to the nice staff at New Day GuestHouse in Haeundai beach and took the train to the airport. I have to change trains, the line that goes to the airport is a monorail. A very quick check in at Jeju Air counter and then I relaxed at the lounge waiting for my flight. it was a smooth less than an hour flight, arriving at Jeju, I quickly try to locate exit 5, as per the Doldam GH instructions, I should be able to find the bus that goes to Seogwipo,I was also told to call them before I leave the airport so they can approximate the time of pick up at the bus stop, ask the tourism office to call us, they said, but the branch next to the ... read more

From Gyeongju I took the train with my new Korean friends I met at the hostel. We arrived just past noontime in Busan and straight out of the train station is my hostel, New Day, it is brand spanking new and its on the 7th floor of this building nest to the subway line, the easisest hostel to find! I sorted myself out, I was the only one in the dorm room at the time when I checked in and then we headed to see Busan, starting at Jagalchi market, seafood galore. My new friends wanted me to try the Busan delicacy so we excitedly entered the first restaurant that dragged us to their establishment. The side orders started to appear in our table, then a stove and a wok, then comes the main meal, slithering, ... read more

Leaving Seoul's Express terminal bus on a gloomy day, soon as I found where my bus is, found my seat, it was very comfortable so I passed out quickly and for the most of the 4 1/2 hour ride I was dead to the world. Jet lag and non stop nite out caught up with me, I remember the bus stopping for lunch but I could barely peel my eyes open so I skipped a feed, I felt like a train wreck, arriving at the bus terminal in Gyeongju I was the last out, I struggled to wake myself up, groggy and disoriented I paged through my rough guide, apparently there is a tourist info at the bus station, after minutes of searching for it, I gave up and asked the waiter in the cafe it's ... read more

Arriving at Seoul's Incheon airport half hour late, 10pm the queue at immigration is long, the AREX express train to downtown already shut so either I take the regular train or limousine bus to town. After getting cash from the ATM, I saw there was a booth near the ATM machine, I inquired about limo service and was told there is one leaving soon so I ditched the subway and headed out to wait for the limo bus. I just missed it! then ended up waiting another 20 minutes for the next one. In the end I made it to the Itaewon area where I booked a dorm bed at SP@Itaewon GH, owned by a Serbian dude. It was easy to find but uphill, it was crazy busy when I arrived and Sa Woong my good ... read more

After as tense moment at the airport in Tunis, they(Air France) finally let me go and fly to Paris after sorting out my itinerary, hurricane Sandy is wreaking havoc at airline schedules even if it did not hit Boston badly. Anyway they want to keep me in Tunis so they don't have to pay extravagant amount of money for my hotel in Paris, but I insisted I need to be in Paris as it connects better to America as there are direct flights, none from Tunis! So I will be staying at a hostel which I found last minute at the Tunis airport, called St. Christopher's. I printed the directions, confirmation code etc at the AirFrance office and rushed to make the next flight out. It took only about 2 hours to get to Paris from ... read more

The 2 hour trip from Homt Souq, Djerba to Tataouine was uneventful, arriving at the terminal I was hounded right away by this man who introduced himself as a guide and even produced a notebook full of written reviews from clients, America, Britain he says, pointing to the notes, I told him I am being picked up by friends, he didn't believe me and waited with me sat on the other side of the waiting area. Not before long, I got a call from Atef, Ussema's cousin whom I stayed in Monastir with, he said they are waiting for me outside, so I gathered my stuff and walked out waving goodbye to the annoying taxi driver/guide. I met the 3 cousins, Atef, Abdou and Aymen, they were very shy at first and right out told me ... read more
