Unfortunately, I was already on a bus bound for Puerto Iguazu before I remembered the above sage advice from TLC. I considered jumping off at the next stop, but it was the middle of the night and I didn´t really feel like it. By the time the bus arrived in Puerto Iguazu, I wondered why I was ever considering taking the advice of a dodgy early 90s girl group over virtually everyone in the world who say that the Iguazu Falls are incredible, and went to find myself a hostel. Fact of the Day. My dad owns the TLC album. How embarrasing. So Puerto Iguazu. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was that I had well and truly arrived back in the tropics, and had worked up quite a sweat just on the walk from ... read more

After an 18hr bus journey from BA, we arrived at Puerto Iguazu (28.3.09). Now before I carry on, I have to tell you about the buses in Argentina. super plush is the only way to describe them (well this one was). I´m talking big seats that recline almost vertically, movies, dinner & breakfast served to you plus drinks including vino. It was better than the hostel we stayed in and only cost £30, not bad so while the budget allows it this is the way to travel. Saying this I´m really looking forward to travelling on the chicken buses, though not sure if I´ll still be saying this once I´ve experienced it! We stayed at Hostel-Inn in Puerto Iguazu, which was a real party place and more like a resort; it had a pool, bars, restaurant ... read more

After a 20 hour bus from Rosario we arrived at Puerto Iguazu right up in the Northeast corner of Argentina. It was hot, very hot. I moaned about the heat and Sarah moaned at me for moaning about the heat. The town was really nice and pretty laid back and not as expensive as we thought and was only half an hour from the waterfalls which is what we had gone to see. We stayed 4 nights at a friendly hospedaje and got some well needed laundry action. The waterfalls are some of the largest in the world and are made up of 275 different falls with a section called Garganta Del Diablo (Devil's Throat) being the most spectacular. The border of Argentina and Brazil runs through the river and the falls themselves and it is ... read more

Hello everyone! Sorry its taken so long for me to get around to doing another one of these, think I've got a good enough excuse though! Going to try and carry on with them in order so this next blog comes to you from Iguazu Falls. Enjoy. After the messiness of Carnival and the brilliance of Rio we knew it was going to be difficult to find somewhere that would be a good place to rest, but also not be a disappointment. Iguazu Falls managed to do both, we left feeling refreshed and also like we'd been to one of the best natural wonders in the world. It really was amazing. It was a 22 hour bus from Rio to get there and when we left we had to get a 24 hour bus to a ... read more

Thursday 19th March 2009 Faced with a 5 and a half hour journey to Iguazu, today was a bit of a write off as well. However it was definately worth it as we were heading to the spectacular iguazu falls. Friday 20th March 2009 The morning started off with slight delay! The guy staying in our room locked the door as he left and we ended up being trapped in our room due to the bedroom door lock breaking and being rescued by a man climbing through the window and unhinging the door. This was quite frankly hilarious and could only happen to us. After being freed we head to iguazu national park. The waterfalls are amazing and the walkways to the falls were covered with beautiful butterflies, some of which landed on your hand. The ... read more

Once we arrived by bus to Foz de Iguazu (the Brazillian side) we had to catch a bus over to the Argentinian side. It was about 7am and the fog was thick. We had to go through two border crossings, which were suprisingly easy, only took about 2mins each!! After having some breakfast at a cafe at the bus terminal in Puerto Iguazu (the Argentinian side) we caught a taxi out to our hostel, Hostel Inn, which is an ex casino and meant to be the best hostel in Argentina. Well it certainly lived up to its name!! We felt more like we were staying in a resort than a hostel, and it was still only AUD$20 each a night. The pool at the front of the complex was massive! The rooms were nice as well. ... read more

Having arrived back in Campo Grande at 7pm, we had an hour to hunt down the guy who was looking after our bus tickets whilst we were in the Pantanal before our night bus left. Thankfully we found him in good time and were swiftly on our way to Foz de Iguaçu. We decided last minute that it would be ashame to miss Iguazu Falls from the Brazilian side so left our bags at the bus stop and jumped on a local bus to the National Park. The view was spectacular, offering a panoramic view of all the waterfalls (there are loads!) as well as an upclose view of one section. The visit didn´t take long so we were back on the road in no time heading for the border. We got into Argentina late afternoon ... read more

We left Buenos Aires for our 18 hour bus ride to Puerto Iguazu. Now, we have done a million overnight buses on this trip, so we thought we knew what we were getting ourselves into. However, it was nothing like we thought. This was bus amazing. A ¨super-cama¨ aka super bed! The beds were comfortable and reclined 180 degrees. We were served dinner and breakfast on the bus. I mean, good dinner and breakfast. Plus we had a pillow, blankets and movies on the TV. To top it off... just when I thought this bus ride couldn’t get any better- they come around just before bed and offer you champagne! Oh yes... FREE CHAMPAGNE! I was a little skeptical that I would have to pay at first so I didn’t get any on the way to ... read more

For our last night in Brazil we went out for something to eat. We found a nice restaurant along the main street in Foz. We were seated at our table and waited on all night. We never had to pour a drink from our glass. As we sat the for a few drinks afterwards we noticed it was a strange place. The people in there obviously had a bit of money but some of them were acting weird. This story may seem far fetched but both of us swear by it. Two pretty girls were sitting at a table across from us. They were eating and drinking and having a good time. Two older men and a younger woman sat at a table near them. I noticed the younger girl beckon one of the two girls ... read more

... read more
