Just did a lot of blog and then the PC crashed so this will be a new briefer one as we're running out of time!! Arrived at Mount Cook with stunning scenery and the lodge we were staying in was very well appointed with views of all the mountains. We noticed we'd also got a puncture on the way so would sort that out when we left for Dunedin! Went for a short walk on the day we arrived as got there late afternoon. The next morning, we managed to get onto a scenic flight with Mount Cook Ski Planes. This was an amazing experience and involved a landing on a glacier along with a 50 minute flight, there and back. To see the mountains from the air was really great - and we got some ... read more

Hello all, Hope you all enjoyed your festivities on New Year. We had such a good time! We went to see the fireworks on the Bridge and it was specatcular. We were a bit squiffy at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, that was to take the pain away from having to wait for 2 hours to get into the viewing spot and then had to sit on a very steep hill to get a half decent, (but good compared to some people) view. We watched the first lot of fireworks at 9 o'clock from this spot but decided that we had better move in a bit closer for, as Phil just said, "The real deal", the huge fireworks at midnight. It was great! I'm so glad we weren't at home or sat in the Saracens ... read more

We said goodbye to Perth and Western Australia just before New Years Eve and boarded an internal flight to Adelaide to see in 2007 and relax a few days before touring the Great Ocean Road on the way to Melbourne. It seemed quite strange to be leaving, as we had come to see Perth as our 'home from home' in many ways, but also we were excited by the prospect of being back on the move again, after staying such a long time in one area. Adelaide is a laid back town (yes, even after being in Perth) and we were both taken back by how certain aspects reminded us of Northern cities back home. The main shopping street had similar charecteristics to central Leeds and Newcastle, with a wide pedestrian prominade flanked by victorian articecture ... read more

Hello again everyone, I hope you all enjoyed your New Year's celebration! Kirsty and I have been having a great time, and we have been doing a little traveling with our time off for the holidays. As you can see, we used our Christmas break to head over to Queenstown for a few days, and this past weekend, we took some time to travel to the Catlins, an area near here on the very southeast coast of the south island. We were recommended by the girl who lived in our flat before us to have a look, and as we had the time and the means, we decided to take her up on the idea. To be honest, it was a bit of a last minute decision, but our luck seemed to hold, as we called ... read more

So I'll soon be off to Australia to study abroad in Brisbane at Griffith University! If I've calculated correctly, I have 40 days exactly until I leave. I am way beyond excited! I love travelling-and I have always wanted to visit Australia. I'm hoping to get around to Sydney, Melbourne, Cairnes, and many other places as well along the coast. If anyone has any suggestions on places to check out let me know! It'd be greatly appreciated ... read more

Today I was awake at 6am and in the kitchen at 6:45 making sandwiches to take with me to the Ashes, I left the hostel at 8 and walked down to the train station with another 4 who were going to the cricket. We got off at the central and went across the road where the special buses were running, by the time we got to the Sydney Cricket Ground it was 9:30. I found the entrance gate E and had all the bags checked and ticket scanned. I found bay 21 where my ticket was and then found H43 the ticket said it was restricted view, the only part of the ground which could not be seen was a little part of the boundary as it was blocked by the sight screen. The seat was ... read more

Bouldering on the wall of The Nationa Library in Canberra is very good. There are 2 wall which about 50-60 meters long and about 3 meters tall.there are both have some easy and hard routes. I went for bouldering for 2 days. it was owesome!... read more

Went to Day 2 of the test and we had the same seats (same for all 4 days). My cold was in full flow now and I was not feeling the best. Got some multi-vitamin tablets and strepsils to try and combat. It's weird having a cold when the temperature is nearly 30 degrees C. England did badly again in the cricket. Met up with my old housemate (from Milton Keynes) Suky, and his girlfriend Kerry. Carla and Elliot, Andy, Gary and Dan all turned up. A couple of Lee's friends from work (Tanya and Becky) were also there. I was drinking vodka-orange and vodka-cranberry to combat the cold. We were in the Opera bar (next to the Opera House), which is a really nice location. ... read more
