Hey all, I'm Chandra. I'm 25 years old and I absolutely LOVE to travel. I've been fortunate enough to go on a couple cruises that took me all over the place, and I've been lucky to be able to go to Hawaii several times. In 2007, I was fortunate enough to participate in a study abroad in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. I was living there from Feb 12-June 24th. It was honestly the best time I've had in my life. I loved being able to travel around the country and meet so many new friends. I also was able to fullfill a lifelong dream of seeing the Great Barrier Reef.

I am also fortunate that I was able to go back to Australia on Dec 4th - Jan 2nd! I spent Christmas and New Years with several of my friends. I've definitely been bitten with the travel bug and I hope to do some more traveling in the coming years.

The next trip I'm going on is this coming June 13 - Sept 12th. My Australian friend and I are backpacking thru Europe and I couldn't be more excited! :) We're meeting in Ireland, then heading to the UK, Spain, France, Italy, & Greece! June can't come soon enough.

I love meeting new people from all over the world, so feel free to say hello!

On Christmas Day, I was fortunate enough to go on this Christmas Cruise to the outer reef with a few of my friends, Shellie, and Nieve. We were on a massive yacht and we went to a pontoon on the Outer Reef that surrounds Knuckle Reef. We definitely had a blast on that excursion, but I will admit, my other two water adventures were way better when it came to what you were able to see while snorkeling. The pontoon had everything from snorkeling, to scuba lessons, to a glass bottom boat, and even a massive water slide into the ocean! It was definitely good fun :) Slept a bunch on the way to the reef, then I finally got my energy back once we got there. The 3 of us had quite a blast, but ... read more

Sorry it's been ages since I posted pictures, but in the next few entries, I'll post all of my pictures that I took from my 3 different sailing/snorkeling adventures and fun around the hostel. I have two underwater cameras to still be developed as well, but for now you'll have to enjoy these beautiful pictures of Whitehaven Beach and some of the other islands in the Whitsunday passage :) I head out of Airlie Beach tomorrow at 2:45pm, then I fly into Brisbane and have 50min until my connecting flight to Sydney leaves. Airlie Beach is so small, that only one plane can land at a time on the runway. It's been a crazy few days, and I've definitely made some friends while I've been down here luckily that I will be keeping in touch with. ... read more

So today I'm headed out to the shops to get a new pair of board shorts, buy phone credit so I can call home over Christmas!, and pick up some gifts (yay!). Sounds exciting huh...Might go down to the lagoon today and lay out on the beach for a bit. A girl who I met through the travbuddy.com website, she's staying at Beaches Backpackers hostel as well, and gets in tonight around 11pm, so I might meet up with her once she gets in. She is also going on the Ocean Rafting trip tomorrow! At least I'll have a friend while I'm up here. I think my shoulders really are burnt. Not that you can really tell...hah. But they are pretty tender and sore. And my elbow decided to peel for no reason. Lovely. So now ... read more

Well today I woke up early to go snorkeling out on the Maxi Ragamuffin! It was tonssssss of fun! I saw so much more compared to when I was up at the locations in the Great Barrier Reef. We went to Hayman's Island Blue Pearl Bay, and because it's so sheltered and protected, everything is in great condition. Colorful, and plenty of fish! Enjoy the tons of pictures :) I even helped grind on the sailboat - along w/ everyone else on the ride. Nearly fell off a few times because of the crazy angle it was at for most of the trip.... read more

Well I'm here in Airlie Beach! I've finally made it. The plane ride was pretty good, we were surrounded by massive fluffy clouds so that was kinda cool to see. I don't think in all of the flying I've done, I've seen so many clouds. The elderly people in front of me kept pointing them out and saying "that's a dog" "ICEBERG STRAIGHT AHEAD!" or "that's God". It was quite entertaining. So I'm here at my hostel Beaches Backpackers. It's really nice, BUT I'm the only person in an 8 bedroom mixed dorm room. AND they're not doing anything for Christmas. Yeah. At least I'm doing a sailing trip all day tomorrow and then another one on the 25th so that should be alright. But until then.... *sigh*... read more

Well it's my last day here in Brisbane, and I'm definitely excited to be going up to the Whitsunday Islands and Airlie Beach! Ah sun, sand, and warmth.... Last night I got together with two of my old classmates from when I studied here at Griffith University last year. It was great to see Cardine and Chris again! They were telling me how some people have gone crazy, and about all the wackos in the dorms now :) Ah brings back memories *sigh*. Chris met me outside the Down Under Bar (DUB), and we walked back to the Meyer Shopping Centre (where we used to get in from taking the bus) and had a few drinks at the Beach Grill or whatever it was called. Very chill, with live music, and a sax player that was ... read more

Last night I wasn't thinking I was going to go out because one of my friends was up at the Sunshine Coast visiting his girlfriend and gets back today, and my other friend had to work today, and couldn't stay out late which was understandable. Well I eventually did go out after being harassed by some pushy Indian men because I was Indian, and they were freaking out b/c I didn't speak Hindu or know any of these Indian actresses or anything...weird I know, but yes, I walked around for AGES, had come back, got harassed, left, finally decided to go to the Down Under Bar, and luckily in front of me were some girls from the hostel who were going out as well and we ended up spending the whole time together. We went into ... read more

So I'm here in Brisbane at the moment, completely bored out of my mind at the moment. Wandered around a lot today, looked in the shops, sat in Starbucks and wrote postcards. I won't be able to get together w/ my friends until tomorrow sometime, so I'm trying to figure out what to do tonight. Don't really want to sit in the hostel room for hours on end alone, so I guess I'll figure out something to do hopefully! I'll try and meet some random people, that's always fun :) Going to keep this one short and sweet. Cheers!... read more

December 18th 2008

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I haven't really had time to post anything due to my travelling around. I'm currently at Nicola's in the Gold Coast area, and loving the heat and sun :) We went out last night to Waxy's Irish Pub and had several drinks. We were lucky enough to attract some Irish guys who felt obliged to buy us some drinks for the remainder of the night. We did go to two other spots, but Melba's was empty, and Sin City was charging $10 so we just went back to Waxy's. Waxy's had some great live music as well. A guy was just playing his guitar and had quite a range of songs that he knew. All in all it was a great night. I think we got in around 3:30am, ... read more
