Hey Folks, Greetings still from Queenstown and from a newly gainfully employed Marc (i can hear parents sighs of relief from here). As of a couple of days ago i now have employment at 'The Liquor King', as the name suggests it's an off licience. For the most part i'm just sitting behind the till readings lots of books and occasionally serving the local populus as and when they come in. Also there is the added bonus of sometimes getting to drive thw kingly Liquor King van, with all the attached coolness. Pictures will follow of me as king as shortly. The training was certainly slightly different to that i might have expected in the UK. I remember when i was at HMV in Leeds it took at least a couple of hours and we were ... read more

*This entry comes with a health warning for all parents etc who may wish to remain blissfully ignorant of what goes on when a large number of 20-somethings get together and drink a lot of alcohol...* I know it's out of sequence and I'm really behind with the blog, but the pics from Queenstown are worth putting on here now (even if its just to help some people fill in the blanks....). If any of the Queenstown crew want me to send them copies leave me a message on here/email and I'll send it over. Thanks to everyone who we spent time with in Queenstown and going round NZ, I had a wicked time time and met some really good people. Miss you guys... xx... read more

Queenstown is the adrenaline capital of New Zealand, and the perfect place for us to have a bit of fun!! The Shotover Jet-boat is a famous ride that whizzes you through narrow rocky canyons at hurtling break-neck speeds of up to 85km/h, propelled by a rapid stream of water that the jet engine sucks up from the river below. This unique engine enabled us to experience 360 degree spins on the spot, and even a 540! Needless to say the views were amazing and once we get our waterproof camera developed we'll try and upload some photos. Before we took the bus back to Queenstown we popped in to their souvenir shop to find a picture of Rob, the guy who had met us at the airport with the campervan, who it turned out was the ... read more

Hellloooo! Thanks for all your messages!! And sorry for the long delay in writing, we've been busy! We've put up loads of pictures of our caravan so that you can see the 4 walls and wheels we'll be looking at for the next 31 days! The caravan was a bit daunting (for me, Eric's done it before!) at first, just the thought of everything being within 2 square metres, but it is pretty cool, and I've decorated it with pictures and cards from home. Had loads of lovely cooked meals - we christened the van with chicken fajitas (what else?) and bought some eggs for Sunday breakfast! The caravan is brilliant - we have no restrictions on what bus we have to catch or where we have to be each night for reservations. Only downside is ... read more

Hi guys, its been a while, I think, I dont really have any concept of time any more though, that happens really quickly here. Well, I headed over to Old Macdonalds Farm in the Abel Tasman national park about 2 weeks back, and Ste, Tom and myself went for a three day walk around the coast, though we couldnt get 2 nights accomodation in the huts, so we had to do the whole thing in 2 days, I was shattered! But it was really good, beautiful beaches, and nobody about as you have to walk for days to get to them! We moved on to Barrytown, aka Barry-no-town after that, where I unfortunately got hammered, its all there is to do really, but this time I woke up with no hair! I was paid $60 by ... read more

Whole crap! Forest sliced off his toe last night chopping fire wood in the dark! Was blood everyw...maah, April fools! Yea, Kia ora everyone, just an update on the goings on from the deep south of Middle Earth. Everything is honky dory with work and the Queenstown pace fitting in nicely. The weather has been awesome over the last few weeks with super clear crisp nights. Im sure the stars shine brighter down here. The posty run is primo but unsure how will be in a couple of months once the snow drops. Right now it is cooking, still getting chased by a few random dogs, droped the bike a bit and fallen off once. There this one cool black lab called Turnip who comes out and takes the mail out of my hand an plods ... read more

Hey guys, since i just wrote a huge blog and it was lost into the darkest reaches of cyber space (troubles of me and claire trying to log into the site at the same time) i'll be brief and list whats been going on in bullet points with a bit of discription. Frank Fans - Frank passed his WOF (warreny of fitnness or MOT if you're English) with flying colours and cost us no money at all - whether this was due to the state of Frank or the mechanic who carried out the inspection is debatable. Extreme Cliff Jumping - Well not really that extreme but as you can see from the pictures we had a grand old time launching ourselves from the safety of a cliff into an absolutly freezing lake - the mistake ... read more

hey guys! A quick word from Queenstown to say we are both well and having a great old time. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and marc says hello too! Not too much to update from the last blog, apart from i'm no longer a scrubber, some higer order has taken pity on me and decided my scrubbing days are over! So instead of cleaning i'm now on the front line......thats a receptionist to you and me. Still owrking at the hippo lodge but managed to slip into this fairly cushy job as our friend and music man Robin headed back to England for 6 weeks. As a dedicated worker of course i shall have to try out some of the crazy activities i'm going to try and sell....FREEBIES FOR ME! Also i am ... read more

Hi all, hope everyone is ok! Im currently in Queenstown-party place of new zealand and thank god as i think we were in need of some excitment. Its ony a few days until we leave for Oz and so i suppose time to reflect on New Zealand! Hmmm, what can i say. I suppose we're actually both a little disappointed. Dont get me wrong we've enjoyed ourselves here and i can think of worse places to be for a month but i think we've both found NZ to be a little tame. Lovely and spectacular as the scenery is i feel the whole place lacks atmosphere. We arrive each night in a different town and theres noone about. I dont know whether thats because we loved the vibrancy and diversity of South America but something was ... read more

what a big shock for me. it's the 1st time in roughly 6 months i've got less than 25*. at the time of writing i'm wearing 3 jumpers and a rain jacket and i wish i had bought some gloves and hat. my nose and my ears are red, i look terrible!! but New Zealand is so nice, i'm surrounded by mountains and fresh air. a big change after 4 months in Sydney. and it's full of sheep. I read that there;s only 4 millions people living in NZ but 40 millions of sheep! It's such an incredible country, i'm happy i went straight to the south island, everyone had tlod me it;s the nicest part of the country. i still can't believe i left Sydney, on the plane on the way there, it felt so ... read more
