For any TBers in the Auckland area on Saturday 2 April, we're organising another casual get-together somewhere central.
thetravelbugtribe will be passing through on their way home after an epic trip around the country - a great chance to get some hot tips on places to go!
More details as we decide them - if you're considering coming, please send me a PM, preferably with a contact mobile number :-)
Edit:
We've settled on
De Post - where we had the last get-together.
Saturday 2 April, 1pm
466 Mt Eden Road
Reply to this Will be in Paris....can do a worldwide skype session Jo! Smile!
Reply to this That'll make it either a late night or very early morning for you ;-)

Sounds fun but we will be enjoying the warm sun and sand in Mexico. Have a drink for us.
Reply to this That really sounds like a great time!!! My wife and I will be in NZ...and should be on the north island by that time. We are arriving in Auckland on Mar 8th...and returning to the USA on the 19th of April. We will be watching for more info on this event.
Reply to this Great John :-) Which part of Auckland will you be staying in?
Reply to this We will fly in on the 10....in the morning.....plan to rent a car and then go south of Auckland that day, get a motel and get some rest. Heading to the south island for about 3 weeks. Then back to the north island for about 3 weeks. We have NO reservations as to overnighting....nor, a strict itinerary for each day. Just an enjoyable and relaxing(?) trip there for our first time. We are both retired....and therefore, able to spend the time there.
Thoughts, Jo, as to our first night in south Auckland, or further south. Have to get used to driving on the left hand side of the road and therefore, did not want to drive in the cities quite soooo soon.
THANKS!
Reply to this Places within an easy half-day of driving are Rotorua, Taupo, Coromandel, Waihi for starters.
You'll probably need to return the car in Wellington and get another in the South Island - most rental companies don't allow their cars on the car ferry.
School holidays start mid-April, so you shouldn't have problems booking accomodation.
These might be useful;
transfercar.co.nz - free relocation rentals within
New Zealand
Wises.co.nz - roadmapping site
National parks
Driving times / distances Reply to this Hardly epic Jo! But we are looking forward to meeting up with any TBers in Auckland (in the flesh or online!) We will need cheering up as this trip will be about to end 😞
Reply to this would love to join, but I just don't think our schedules will work. We'll be close though, expect to be in the New Plymouth area at that time. We expect to be in Auckland area around Apr 20th.
Reply to this Make sure you get in touch when you do get here - whenever it is :-)
Reply to this and when you hit Northland too 'AfricaBound'. I'm sure we can manage a coffee or dinner or something. Or if you just want some suggestions for places to go, get in touch.
Love your photos too - so amazing!
Reply to this I just found out the Mt Eden Village fete is also on this Saturday 11am - 3pm. Could be worth a look :-)
It's in Mt Eden Road and
Ngaurohoe St.
