Today we head back on our selfs a little to explore Kalbarri national park, we stopped at some of the most breath taking views 1st stop Castle cove we jumped out and headed for the first look at WA's rugged coast line, straight away we saw about 5 wild dolphins swimming around below the waves were massive here. 2nd stop Eagle Gorge it is called this for a reason you get a birds eye view of everything for up here the noise was amazing listening to the huge waves crash against the cost line, and the gorge looks so deep from up there. 3rd Red Bluff this is where the coast starts to change colour, the coast line is covered in lime stone and sand stone ledges, underneath all this shell fish flurish. Here you can ... read more

We all got up early and jumped into the van, so funny it farts as you drive slowly but is a good runner when you get going. We got onto the Northern highway and our road trip adventure was about to begin. The van was a little noticeable as on one side the van had political leaders on the other the beatles and on the back it said "Lifes a bastard and then you go and marry one" How funny, poor Jay in a van with 3 chicks for a full 11 days. 1st stop was Geralitin here we pulled into Tarcoola beach and put up the table and made us all some lunch, we did not stay around long as wanted to reach Kalbarri before dark,it was a great day so far real comfy drive ... read more

We've spent the last five nights in Kalbarri. We're staying at a caravan park that's a short walk from the beach. On our first full day here we walked to the lookouts overlooking the town and where the river meets the sea, the views are great. On Sunday we went to watch the pelican feeding by the beach and then we walked to Red Bluff, which is about an hour long walk along the coast. We watched some really good surfers for a while on the beach before Red Bluff and then walked around to Red Bluff and sat and watched for whales while we ate lunch. The main reason we're here is because we'd read that you can sometimes spot whales from here. We think we saw splashes from a mhale. Every now and then ... read more

We arrived in Kalbarri around 3pm and stayed at Murchison Caravan Park, which was nice and centrally located. Our site was right next to a decent playground, so Annelies and Thomas were in heaven. On Saturday, 9th we visited the magnificent coastal cliffs section of Kalbarri National Park, with short walks to Natural Bridge, Island Rock, Castle Cove, Shellhouse Grandstand, Eagle Gorge and Red Bluff. We also did a few short sections of the 8km coastal trail which runs from Natural Bridge to Eagle Gorge, but it was getting late, so on Monday we came back to do the fairly short Mushroom Rock loop trail which goes from Rainbow Valley to Mushroom Rock. The cliffs and scenery were spectacular. On Sunday we hopped across the road from the park to see the daily pelican feeding at ... read more

Kalbarri National Park, so we were told, had un-missable views 27km down a dirt track to a place called "the Loop" where you can do an 8km trek around the river Murchison. We were also advised by the Tourist Information that we shouldn't do the dirt tracks in Harry! boo. However, the Park Ranger told us differently he said "sure, no problem" and who’s advise would you take? Someone who sits behind a desk and tries to get commission from all the tourists booking tours into the park, or the Park Ranger who’s out at the park everyday? So yes, we went with the Park Ranger. How wrong could he be! Poor old Harry rattled constantly for the 64km (round trip) on the unsealed roads. We we're surprised he made it there never mind coming back! ... read more

No trouble last night so hopefully we went un-noticed! Leaving Horrocks nice and early we headed towards Australia's second largest country. Huh? You ask....yes Australia has a second country called the Hutt River Province. Prince Leonard, the owner of the Principility, and other farmers battled with the Government about wheat quotas. The argument was based around the fact than the British had only claimed settlement of the Swan Valley region and Perth and therefore the Government had no say over the land they occupied. Basically it all resulted in them becoming an independent principality...read up on him, he's "the man!” So we travelled down dirt road to get there and were greeted by Prince Leonard himself. He then gave us a guided tour of the Governors office (where we had our passports stamped and allowed ... read more

We arrived at Kalbarri on Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to see that it was quite a small town - we were expecting that it would have become a bit more commercialised. We checked into the caravan park and launched into set up mode (we are getting pretty good at it). We then headed straight for ‘Baby Jacques’ the best swimming beach in Kalbarri and enjoyed a great swim and play in the waves (the water temperature is so nice). After out cool down we headed back to camp to meet our fellow holiday makers, Joey, Heidi and the ‘triplets’ and Robbie and Joyce. The girls were very excited about the arrival of the ‘triplets’ and couldn’t wait to see them and have some play mates. Brendan also came up to Kalbarri for a few ... read more

The Animal Kingdom of WA Along the journey Johnny took us to a little animal park in the middle of nowhere. Here we saw parrots, crocs, kangaroos, emus, lamas and your everyday farm animals. We even got to see a little Joey Kangaroo. He was so cute. Jeremy felt right at home next to his friend dolly and even got a little action with Gary the goat. We were given wheat biscuits to feed the animals, which I was hesitant to do. I kept thinking they were going to nip my fingers off! The best part of the park was the snake handling session. We were handed these tiny snakes, which I had no problem holding after the massive black diamond up in Darwin. However, I did start to panic slightly when another two snakes were ... read more

Brian suggested a blog before I left so I thought I'd investigate and it seems like a good idea so here I go. I started in Perth 4 weeks ago and spent some time down in Margaret River trying out the camper. Then I set off for my big circle trip north up the coast of WA then through NT to Darwin and of course down the middle to the big red rock and back to Perth via Adelaide and SA. I'm currently in Kalbarri and there is plenty to do here. I've booked onto loads of day trips including a river cruise, sand boarding (can't wait for that, it's like snow boarding but on sand), abseiling in the famous Z-bend gorge at Kalbarri National Park and a helicopter flight over the national park and along ... read more
