Sooo... . after two days of travelling - we have seen and done an amazing amounts of things! Pinnacle Desert was our first stop - we knew what to expect yet - once there - it is so different than on the pictures one sees... totally strange experience... From there we went to Kalbarri. On our way we fed little kangaroos and JW played with a python. I didn't dare, but I did take a little "Thorny Devil" in my hand - only because I know he is harmless. This morning we went into Kalbarri National Park. It was quite a hike into the gorge ... but really worth it... What amazing views we had! For the rest - we were on the road a lot - and arrived into Shark Bay this evening. Denham is ... read more

Well i have just been working for the last few weeks and going to the beach on days off although it has got colder. Taken the week off this week to go on a road trip with a guy i have met in the hostel, Tim. We left today to head up the coast in a hire car. Headed to Kalbarri today. It wasd a long old drive on very boring roads, im loving driving a new car though, power steering and an accelerator that when you put your foot down up a hill it goes faster!! INcerdible i love modern technology! So we got to Kalbarri about 6 checked into hostel and were pretty tired from the drive.... read more

Early start into Kalbarri National Park to see the loop, Natures window (Hawks' Head and Ross Graham lookout) and the Z bend gorge. The landscape was fantastic, 400 million years old - red sandstone rock interspersed with the occasional bush scrub. The views of the area were really amazing and from the top you could see far into the distance all along the gorge with the clear sparkling river snaking its way into the horizon. The rocks were a variety of rich reds and the view from Nature's window, (which is a rock that has a hole formed in the middle) was amazing, overlooking the beautiful landscape and winding river gorge at the loop. Some of our team decided to abseil down the gorge -however we decided to save our money until NZ. After lunch we ... read more

Kalbarri National Park starts a few kilometres out of the town and is a vast area of trees and stuff. Centred on the Murchison River, it also has a quite a spectacular gorge with some great features. We were keen to see it but on Monday morning, we got news that someone had died up at the gorge that very day; heat exhaustion or dehydration I think. Bugger! We also made aware of the temperature - a rather stifling 46.5 degrees c and 38 in the shade! An old boy on the campsite told us that he’d been to the gorge and that it was 51 degrees up there!! We spent most of the day in the pool and in shade! Anders and I agreed we’d go to the gorge at 5 or 6ish in the ... read more

Monday 11th Dec While packing last night I was talking to a girl (Jane) in my room who had been staying there a long time we just had never been in the room at the same time as eachother and she said she was travelling to Kalbarri as well tomorrow. So when I woke for the bus at 4am and saw her asleep on the sofa I woke her up and we both sleepily stumbled onto the bus for the journey south. We arrived at about 9am and on the last bus spoke to a guy called John who had come out for the cricket. The town is fairly big compared to what we have been use to which means it has more than one street! We all went for Brunch and then I hid inside ... read more

Woensdag 6 december. In Kalbarri wilden we met een kalme dag beginnen: omdat Denham zo erg afgelegen was geweest, was onze ijskast nu helemaal leeg. We moesten dus eerst dringend boodschappen doen.

We arrived in Exmouth on thursday 28th of september. Like everytime, we went first to the visitor center to find out what to do and where to sleep. We decided to sleep in the Lighthouse caravan park.. Yep i forgot to say that we spend almost one week sleeping in the car or in the tent in the bush with no showers nothing.. So it was quite welcome.. especially when it is quite hot! We just went to see the beach and rested in the caravan park. The next morning, we went to the lighthouse look out with our friend Xavi. And we saw some surfer in the waves.. So we decided to go to the beach to surf. The waves weren't too big but since Noosa Heads I am a bit afraid of the ... read more

Day 67 Kalbarri to Geraldton 04/09/06 We awoke to another windy morning around 7.30am, got up and had breakfast. We began to pack up and at 8.45am Leanne took the boys down to the foreshore to see the pelican feeding. I am told that only 5 pelicans turned up for breakfast, but this is a record number of late. Apparently, since the cyclone, their attendance has dropped dramatically, having some mornings where a ‘no show’ was common! Once the feeding was over, Leanne and the boys returned to the trailer and we completed the pack up. By the time we said goodbyes and checked out the Kalbarri Oceanarium it was 10.25am as we drove out of Kalbarri. We drove around the coast road toward Northampton and visited Red Bluff, Rainbow Valley, Eagle Gorge, Castle Cove, Natural ... read more

Day 62 Coral Bay to Carnarvon 30/08/06 As we had to be at the Shopping Centre by 8.30am for the ‘Quad Bike Tour’, we were awoken at 600am by the alarm clock. We got out of bed straight away to find the tent was wet from extremely heavy dew. We quietly dressed, ate breakfast and began the pack-up. As I wanted the tent as dry as possible before we collapsed it (dried by the sun), we didn’t drop it until 7.55am. After tying the bikes on the front box, we drove across the road and parked in the trailer parking bay. Once at the tour shop, we were fitted out with helmets (we took our own snorkels & masks) and taken to the bikes. The boys had chosen the particular quad bikes they wanted the previous ... read more
