We arrived in Exmouth on thursday 28th of september. Like everytime, we went first to the visitor center to find out what to do and where to sleep. We decided to sleep in the Lighthouse caravan park.. Yep i forgot to say that we spend almost one week sleeping in the car or in the tent in the bush with no showers nothing.. So it was quite welcome.. especially when it is quite hot!
We just went to see the beach and rested in the caravan park.
The next morning, we went to the lighthouse look out with our friend Xavi. And we saw some surfer in the waves.. So we decided to go to the beach to surf. The waves weren't too big but since Noosa Heads I am a bit afraid of the big waves.. We stayed on this beach for a while, sunbaking..Then we decided to stay one more night at ''Exmouth lighthouse caravan park''. And we had a surprise that evening when we ran into Nina by coincidence (Nina is a german girl that we met in Fiji in May!).
On saturday 30th of september, we decided to go surfing again with Nina and her friend Chubby who is a great surfer.
In the afternoon, we went to see the final of the australian football : Sydney vs. WA Perth! It was time to catch up with our friends at the same time.
The next day, we went snorkelling at turquoise bay with Nina, Chubby and Xavi... so beautiful! Yep the ocean was really turquoise too. There was a bit of a current so it was funny to snorkel. You could just lay in the water without doin anything, having the impression to swim quite fast and see all the fishes! After that we went to do a little walk in tha cape range Nat park. Then, we started to head south.. at the bad time .. at sunset.. and there was a lot of kangaroos.. we had to slow down.. they were jumping from one side of the road to the other.. it was really cool to see so many of them like that.. We stopped to sleep at a rest area on the way. The next day, we drove all the way down to Denham. We stopped to sleep in the car just before Denham on a rest area along the beach. And
we were alone.. It was so quiet.. the sunset was awesome.. Just enjoying the simple things that the nature can offer.
On Tuesday 3rd of october, we took our breakfast in Denham, nice and quiet town, but with not much to do. We went straight to Monkey Mia where we could see the dolphins from really close. In fact, we could feed the dolphin coming close to the beach. They were moving, looking, screaming all the time.. after that we decided to go for a walk starting inland and coming back by the beach. We saw lots of wildlife: emus, birds, crabs, pelicans, ... Then, we did a little nap on the beach. We were sleeping at the Monkey Mia caravan park. It was a nice place and it was good to have a shower!
On wednesday, we left Monkey Mia. We wanted to go to see the Francois Peron Nat Park but with our car it wasn't possible. So we ended up doing a walk not far from there to a lagoon. That was nice! It was funny because some people asked us if we needed a lift because we were walking '' in the middle of nowhere''
for them ... and we just wanted to walk!
On thursday 4th of october, we drove to the Kalbarri National Park and slept just before the entrance because it is forbidden to camp in the Nat Park. And fees apply .. so we didn't want to risk it.
The next morning we want to the visitor information as usual. We saw that there was nice walks to do. The first one, the one we did that day, was the loop. It was 8km starting from the top of the gorge then going down in the sand and on the rocks near the river. The scenery was more than beautiful.. But we did the walk from 11.30 am to 2 pm during the heat of the day and the wind didn't really show up.. that was a bad idea.. so we took our time.. The worse thing was the flies.. they were everywhere! On your face, in your ears, on your mouse.. I hated them! (Still now i reckon.) We went to see another look out then we headed back to the caravan park of Kalbarri were we could take a nice shower!
The second day in Kalbarri Nat Park,
we did the 16km cliffwalk! That was also a really nice track! Spectacular! This time the wind was there blowing really strong. We could have the impression to fly! We started to walk at 9am and came back to the car around 2 pm.. We obviously did some breaks to enjoy to view and take some pictures!
We stayed on more day to relax in Kalbarri. I did a jogging the third day in the morning on the beach from Kalbarri to the cliffs.. The light of the sunrise was really nice! After that, it was definitely time to rest! We found a nice spot just next to the beach to sleep that last night.
We left the next morning. We arrived in Geraldton a couple of hours later. We went to the sunday market, we visited a little bit the town and went to the Western Australia museum. We learned about the Western Australia history andwe learned when and how the europeans arrived in Geraldton. That was quite interresting. Then, it was time to eat. We decided to pic-nic at Geraldton's lighthouse. (Lighthouses are always a nice spot..) First we could see lots of windsurfers and kitesurfers. Then,
guess what?! We met Xavi our spanish friend again ( that we left in Exmouth). In fact, he was there to windsurf. He had met an italian girl and an ozie guy who were both kitesurfing! They were organising a barbecue that evening and they invited us to join! Cool! Why not? So we learned a bit more about Ciara and his boy friend. We spend a really nice evening..
We decided to stay two more days in Geraldton. We went surfing a bit in the morning and windsurfing in the afternoon. Claire and I did a bit of Kite but from the beach .. It was cool but no so difficult. I try a bit of windsurfing.. I tried to learn the beachstart.. but the wind was very strong and the wind was pushing the sail down the other side! The second evening, we were invited to another barbecue by one of ciara's friends. We spend another really nice evening, taking, enjoying the music and the stars..
After two days, it was finally time to leave.. But it's not always easy when you meet so nice people!
We drove down to Perth, stopping at the Pinnacles. That's a huge space
of yellow sand with lots of little pinnacles.. It wasn't as impressive as other things we'va seen so far but that was quite surprising though! We stopped near Cervantes for lunch on a so beautiful beach! We slept just before arriving to Perth!
We finally arrived in Perth on the 12th of October a few days in advance compared to the schedule we've done before leaving! Yep We made it!!
