Travel Blog Hi All, We are still alive in down town Exmouth; the weather is still not good. We have had rain, wind and it is cold. The weather looks good on Monday so we will get sailing then, around the corner (North West Cape) to try and get to Yardie Creek. Mark and Kris other friends of ours are around there with three other boats all waiting ……….. They are going up north. We will be going south on our way home, we have got 2 weeks left. We are kept busy doing our daily chores washing our clothes which can take up to an half an hour or more. Having a shower well that is a marathon, David collects the water in the tender every few days, sometimes Brian and Dave do it together ... read more

Hi All, Great to hear from you Shane & Anna glad you are following our Adventures. We are still in Exmouth! The weather is not good north or south strong winds and high seas, looks like rain very overcast at present. We made the most of our day, went to the Novotel Resort for morning tea then went to the marina, had a look at a 44ft Caterman worth $1.5.mil. It had come to Exmouth for repairs it was in 50knot winds about 100ks out. We touched it to see what a $1.5mil boat feels like very smooth. The rest of the day was spent reading, napping David and Brian tried fishing but that lasted 5 minutes, then we had our sundowner. The weather is not looking good tomorrorw or the days that follow............. we will ... read more

Hello from the seas of Exmouth!! We stayed the past weekend for the Yacht racing here at Exmouth. Brian and David drove the start boat on Saturday and Sunday, they both enjoyed this and got free drinks, which was even better. The boat racing went well and the hospitality of the Exmouth Yacht club was very welcoming. The Commodore of Sailing James was very appreciative of the help Brian and David gave driving the start boat for the races, there were 4 races on the Saturday and 2 on the Sunday with presentations at lunch time allowing time for people to travel home. We went to the Drinks and Dinner on the Saturday night, us girls got dressed up for a change in dresses………….. Yes I said dresses, but could we get over to the Yacht ... read more

Exmouth and Cape Range(Ningaloo Reef) We had camped at New Beach just south of Carnarvon, where we checked out another 1 mile jetty (a few hundred metres shorter than Busselton’s). We headed to Woolworths to stock up on food, and fuel at Caltex -98.3L @ 166.0c/L and decided to continue north along the coast. Although the Easter long weekend had come and gone, school holidays seemed to fill every resort throughout the Coral Bay and Exmouth area. Being a bit late to get into the National Park to camp, we stayed at Yardie Homestead Caravan Park $30/powered site, which enabled us to power all our batteries and charge up the camera before spending 5 nights out in Cape Range National Park. We woke up at sparrowfart and waited in line at the Ranger’s station to ... read more

Geo: -21.9277, 114.126Monday morning we set off on our next adventure, to the north. Although everyone warned us of the distances involved, it is one thing to look at the map and note mileage, it is something else to experience driving for hours seeing nothing but the road and scrub vegetation. There are names on the map, for example Overlander Homestead, which is a few hours drive from the previous stop, so finally you arrive to find a petrol station, then it's back in the camper and the journey continues for another few hours with again nothing but the road and vegetation. We found it necessary to change drivers regularly to overcome the monotony. The first stop out of Perth for a cup of tea, (on our own gas burner of course), was a small place ... read more

The town is located 1,270 kilometres (789 mi) north of the state capital Perth and 3,366 kilometres (2,092 mi) southwest of Darwin. It was 7am, the sun was already burning our skin and the eggs were almost frying themselves without the need of our gas cooker. We had driven 10km on dirt roads jarring our bones to reach Shothole Canyon. 10k doesn't sound much but when rocks and slippery shingle mean you can't pass 20kph it sure feels it. It was, however, worth the rattle and the heat, we enjoyed our breakfast alone in this huge chasm and clambered to the peak to take in stunning views along the long, dry river bed. At 11am we were waiting outside the Exmouth Novotel for our friend Unik to finish her shift. It had been 12 months since we first met Uni and her boyfriend Joni in the ferry ticket queue on Havelock island in the Andamans. We've all travelled ... read more

Us again Had a long drive to Exmouth against a very strong headwind. Took nearly seven hours to do 530km. This must be one of the few places where you will see a sign on the way "into" town, warning you of wild life crossing the road? There are heaps of wild Emu grazing along the side of the road and in the campsite. They don't come too close to our van, but I have seen one chasing a young child who had a sandwich in his hand?? We had a quick drive into Cape Range National Park a couple of days ago to check out likely camping spots. Unfortunately it is school holidays here, so we can't get a spot until next week. The park is unique in that the reef is only meters from ... read more

What a contrast! When we left you just a few days ago we were on our way to Tom Price, a purpose built town for the mine site and named after the American Tom Price who was very instrumental in getting iron mined in the middle of nowhere. He apparently died on the day the first load was shipped out of the mine!! Not much to rave about, we were even a little disappointed in the mine tour, oh well, never mine…… However as we were about to leave Tom Price we were approached by a young lad who asked if we could possibly give a lift to a young female back packer who was stranded. Like charitable Australian citizens we told him to f**k off! So off we go, just the two of us. Exmouth ... read more
