September 17th we got on the 7am bus from Broome to Exmouth. This was a long bus ride. Like I mean VERY long! We finally got to Exmouth at 4am on September 18th and had to stay at the bus stop until the hostel opened at 7am. It was chilly and we spent the three hours huddled together. After the hostel opened, we were able to store our luggage and head over to a hotel, where we treated ourselves to a buffet breakfast. Yum! After checking in and taking a nap, we explored the town. Exmouth is very small and seemed almost deserted as it wasn’t the tourist season at this time. The next day we explored some diving options. Exmouth is famous for its scuba diving as it is located right beside the Ningaloo Reef, ... read more

Hi all We are now back at Exmouth after 6 nights at Cape Range National Park. We got up early and were at the Ranger Station for the National Park 40kms away from Exmouth around the peninsula before 7am, but still we were No 18 in the queue for a campsite!! We waited until 8am, when it opened (9 more had turned up by then), and were very lucky to be offered the last spot in the overflow campsite for the first night. We could then transfer to a better spot the next day. We got a lovely spot at Osprey Bay, a stone's throw away rom a lovely beach, with tame kangaroos. The camp hosts had a Happy hour BYO each evening 5pm - 6.30pm, so most of the campers came. We walked the beaches ... read more

Hi everyone We are at Exmouth, and today spent the day around at the Cape Range National Park. We snorkelled at Turquoise Bay, in the lovely clear water by the Ningaloo Reef. We walked up to one end of the beach, and drifted down over the coral reef, in the current. There are lots of different fish, big and small, lots of bright coloured ones. We have one more night here in the camping ground at Exmouth, then we will go around early,(about 50ks), and hope to get into a campsite in the National Park for 5 - 7 days or so. There are about 10 different camping areas, but each has only about 5 - 10 camping spots. They are so popular, people start queing up before 8am to get a spot. They can't be ... read more

The further north we are going the more we are warned to make sure we have enough water with us at all times. Its the little things that we take for granted such as being able to turn on a tap and have the water there...how many times have I just left the water running as I brush my teeth? None of that now as we have to make sure that we save water as we push on. We can sometimes fill up the vans reservoir at some rest stops, usually with non drinking water though so also carry with us a few large containers of water, just in case. We continue along the coast up north towards Exmouth and pass some absolutely stunning beaches that are all part of the Ningaloo marine park. The beaches ... read more

We spent a week in Alice Springs. Not so much because of its charms but because we were looking for work. We were staying on a crap campsite. No camp kitchen - not even a fridge. The upside was that there were these Rock Wallabies which would descend from the rock outcrop at the edge of the site every dusk to get fed and generally bicker amongst themselves. They were very cute, tiny little furry things. Although Alice seemed like a haven in the desert at first, we soon tired of it. It’s not a pretty place and there are lots of dodgy looking vagrant types wandering around. We didn’t really do anything in Alice besides watch Prison Break on our laptop (rented from the DVD store). It’s quite addictive. We met up with a girl ... read more

Been here for just under 1 week and not much to report oh besides "THEY HAVE THE BEST BURGERS AROUND!!!!!" There is a caravan parked behind the pub and they do the best burgers, kebabs and chips that i have had in ages. They were that good we went back the next night and had round 2. Pretty small town i was expecting bigger, but i have been told that they get packed out during school holidays which are like in 1-2 weeks. Went and had a look at the canyons here with Ash and Cristie the other day when it was blowing its ass off, great choice of day!!! Pretty impressive when looking down, even worked calling out a "koo-wee" We had Dale, Tahn and Kaylee meet up with us here for the weekend which ... read more

Oh and my big sis gave berth to her second daughter today and they named her Phillipa (not sure of the spelling yet) only 3hrs of labour, so i think Maddie must have left directions on where to come out!!! Exmouth After lunch in Carnarvon we decided to divert to the Blowholes as Judy had never been this way before. We were glad we did as the water spout and coastline were quite spectacular with the steep cliffs and the surf surging against it. The camp area here stretches for several kilometres and we were astounded by the number of caravanners and shacks here. We felt the shacks really lowered the tone of the area and hopefully they’ll be removed soon as they have been elsewhere along the coast. After travelling for about a kilometre past caravans and campers we eventually found an empty spot where we could stop. It was only early so we set out to explore the beach and nearby area. At 7.30am the next morning, we left and headed back to ... read more

Having been getting up at 7 for the last few days we treated ourselves to a lie-in today. We then headed for “Cape Range” national park and to “Oyster Stacks” which we had heard so much about from our neighbour. Himself and his wife have been coming to the park we were at for the past 20 years and they just live there for four months of the year chasing the sun. Loads of people there were doing the same thing, it was kind of mental, but we were meeting some really nice people. So anyway we got to the beach and who was there but the two Joes! So we had a little catch up with them and then got in the water, the reef was about 5 metres from our towels, it was unreal ... read more
