We went to dinner at Thali Thai to celebrate Sabine's birthday, Dave, Sabine and I met Annelise and Rob there. Poor Doug got the tram wrong and walked up the wrong end of Lygon Street! The food was lovely though, we couldn't even finish it they gave us so much! The Comfy Chair, a couple of doors down, is this funky little bar that has loads of second hand couches, loungers - "comfy chairs"! It's a totally chilled vibe, you can just relax into your chair....until of course mine unbalanced and hit Rob's arm that he just broke a week previously and put him in agony! Sabine then had the bright idea of doing shots...ended up with rounds of zambuca, cowboys....... read more

Meet Annie and Dave on Brunswick and ended up in Cape Cafe dancing to hip hop and early 90's music. Irene had a great chat with a Tazzie man about how she was a private investigator and was based in Oz as there was more work there but she was considering moving to Taz as they seem to cut up bodies a lot over there. This was based on Toby's story regarding the mad family (known all over Tazzie apparently), where the mother died and the father chopped her up as he didn't want the kids to see her dead. At one stage during the night, we turned around from where we were dancing only to see this 60 year old (or older) man, with his face pressed to the window staring in at us all.....literally ... read more

Hello everyone!! Its me Piper!!!! So sorry I haven't written in so long but its been work work work!! Been saving up all the interesting things for this very entry! There's not loads. Having a brilliant time just not that interesting for you all to read about. Well for the first time in 6months I find myself alone on the other side of the world. Pauly had to fly home for some very sad news. I certainly do feel as though I've lost half of myself!!!! It feels very strange but I'm glad he got the oppurtunity to make it home. He returns here on Friday thankfully. Not a moment too soon! Anyway...whats been happening???? Well I'm working lots and lots at TGI Fridays. It has been good but I have to say that it isn't ... read more

Arriving in Melbourne late in the night gave me a fresh perspective of this intriguing and cultured city. Even though I was stepping out of a ten dollar airport shuttle with a dirty backpack and a paper sack filled with the rest of my stuff, I felt as if I was stepping out of a limo into a vast romantic city, like that of Paris. It was a very special feeling though because I was reuniting with Rachel after our longest break so far, two weeks! Rachel and I decide to explore Melbourne like we would if it was our only destination in the world. We put our worries about money to the side and put on our walking shoes. We had a great time riding the tram everywhere and investigating this unfamiliar urban city. ... read more

G'day..... Well, we never actually thought we would make it to Australia. Back in November it seemed so far away and now this is the last leg of our trip. With the hard parts of Asia behind us we re-enter civilisation. We are understood, we can cook for ourselves in kitchens not situated in an alleyway and not inhabited by other animals (although there are more than a few dubious "younger" backpackers here). Even though eating out is fun, after 3 meals a day for 6 months that first bowl of home-made bacon amatriciana was almost as good as at home - almost! I am sure the novelty will wear off but its great at the moment. What has taken a little longer to wear off is the cynicism and mistrust we picked up in Asia, ... read more

Well hello there everyone!!! Just to give you an update on what's been going on. Been pretty hectic this last week!!! Well we left New Zealand (very sad!) and rocked up in Sydney-well I think it was Sydney, or at least some part of the orient judging by all the locals!!!!! haha! It looked like life was going to be a breeze for us and that everything would fall in our lap! Erm...Hello?...Do we actually know ourselves???? Of course none of this was to be! Our dream house was about 4days of travelling out of town and no jobs were quite right. We were just feeling slightly depressed when an angel in the form of Mr Posh James (not just a clever name!)-a friend from home-managed to completely turn everything around!!! Bless him thanks to him ... read more

It was great to be sleeping in a bed!!!! Not a great sleep though..................... So today we had to get serious bout finding a job!!! Gosh I hate that thought! After applying for jobs online we went off into the city fully armed with CV's.......................... Tried down at the river, but they were all quite posh and we fancied something more relaxed................ Our last try was down a little street we had spotted on a walk back to Col's apartment (our future pad on 28th). its a cute little road with a few restaurants and cafes- we had our first offer of the day- to start the next day- a host...................... great I thought with my Bar and Grill experience!!!!!................. o gosh- a Oz host though meaning to stand on the street and try to entice ... read more
